Rebuilding the Browns in HC
Posted on April 12, 2009 at 10:12 PM.
I have been a Browns fan my whole life. I still cringe when I hear the phrase "The Drive" and the name of John Elway sticks in my throat (even though I have to admit he was a great player) so after getting familiar with Head Coach I decided to try to take my beloved team all of the way to the Promised Land...the last time they had won the championship was the year I was born so I wanted to see it happen in my lifetime where I could remember it.

I threw out both playbooks and tried something new. The first pre-season was a disaster. I watched my approval plummet as we continued to lose games. The only thing that saved me was going with the popular things on defining moments and luckily pulling some of them off.

The personnel were all over the place. There were highly paid mediocre players and a limited amount of talent. So as soon as I could I started cutting the dead weight...when I could afford to...and signing some young quality players. I had to do alot of research on the draft because in the first year we only had 4 draft picks...and none were too high. Besides...I didnt have alot of money to mess around with.

We started out awful...lost the first 3 games...bad. But things started to pick up. We ended the year 9-7 and just missed the playoffs. This wasnt bad because the owner...and myself didnt expect to finish above .500.

I fired the whole coaching staff except the oc and got very lucky with my new coaches. This is the only time I will "look and save" because there is no way to know anything about the coach until you hire them.

Since then I have been very lucky. That next year we made the playoffs as a wild card.

The next year...went 15-1 ...and rode the wave all the way to the top...beating the bears (which was the only team to beat me in the regular season). The offense and defense were both in the top 5 and all of the coaches stayed. My 3rd year...went 13-3 and lost in the conference championship. My wr coach left...I wasnt suprised...he was a 99. I am starting on my 4th year and having fun with the salary cap...but will get it all worked out.

I have to admit I super-sim everything but the pre-season games. I dont have alot of time to play the games after I do the research. But I guess when I want to play the game itself I can always pop in madden...

I like the challenge of this game and hope I continue to have the success I have had up til now with the Browns...

LOL...well...that was payback for them spoiling my perfect regular season...

I am loving it. I decided to try something new again so I started the Jets. Boy...that one is a mess. To be honest...after I signed the players I wanted to I simmed the rest of the season because all I was doing was dealing with injuries. My trainer was a 14 and at one time I had 9 players down with injuries.

I got almost all of the coaches I wanted (after firing all of them but 3) and have had a wonderful pre-season for my 2nd year. I got the draft with Leron James. I got him...Goldman...Barone and some other much needed players. This is added to Mcfadden who I got last year...

I hope this year goes better. I can always go back to my beloved Browns...

Yeah the Bears trainer is pure bubblegum in carpet bad too.

I dread making it through the first season without losing half my roster
