To quote the great Ric Flair, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man." Right now, I wouldn't bet against Peyton Manning.
One of the biggest stories of the off-season took it’s first step in the regular season on Sunday night. Peyton Manning took over as Quarterback of the Denver Broncos, and not only did he avoid injury, he looked great in beating the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The avoiding ... Read More

Week One is in the books in the NFL. Some of your fantasy teams already look terrible. Your Madden Dynasty suffered a major injury. But how are your real life teams doing? I only ask because I bet against the Redskins in last week's NFC preview and I was happily wrong. This negative attitude towards my team ... Read More

Football is here! Football is here! Well, the meaningful games are here -- thankfully.
College Football started up this past weekend, and as a Maryland fan, I’m ready for the NFL to begin and have been waiting for this all summer.
With that in mind, here are the five players I'm keeping my eye on in the first week of the season.
Quarterback Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

I'll take a look at a few guys who should have put up big numbers -- and did -- and a few more who may break out and some whom this may be their proudest achievement.

It's tough to be as inept as the Jets have been this preseason. Their offense is bordering on the historically bad after the first three games. The Jets have no touchdowns through the first three preseason games. They also have two Quarterbacks with QB Ratings under 60.0, and to make matters worse, three running backs averaging at/under 3.5 yards per carry.
Luckily for the Jets, Tight End Dustin Keller ... Read More

I'm not talking MVP candidates. I'm talking about the guy who the team absolutely cannot do without. The guy who, if he goes down for any extended period of time, will ruin the season for their respective team. Think Peyton Manning last year with the Colts.
The NFL is a Quarterback driven league, so to make sure I don't hear complaints from readers about me being biased to QB's I'll sneak in some positional players ... Read More

We all knew this was coming. This sideshow of a Jets team has been months in the making.
This didn't just start when the Jets traded for Tim Tebow. No, this started at the end of last season when they dropped their final three games and missed the playoffs.
Now we are all inundated with all Jets, all the time. This is truly a circus. So ... Read More

Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III.
These two will forever be linked, whether they like it or not. Being the first two picks in the draft will have these two being compared all season, fairly or unfairly.
Before the pre-season started I would have said hands down that Robert Griffin III would have the better rookie season. Griffin III has the overall better team ... Read More

Which players, who were fighting for a Heisman or National Championship 12 months ago, are going to be making an impact at the NFL level this season?
I'll break it down by offense and defense to keep things simple. As a head's up, there are going to be two glaring omissions from the defensive side of the ball. Carolina LB Luke Kuechly will unfortunately be left off the list as of this writing, he's still a ... Read More

Considering I gave undoubtedly the number one free agent signing an entire article, I figured I would follow up with a few more big names in new places.
Just as a note, no Offensive Lineman will be involved. It's nothing against Carl Nicks or Eric Winston, both are fantastic players in their own right. It's just hard to quantify how much better a team is with an impact lineman, compared to a quarterback. Tampa Bay ... Read More

I'm glad to see all the responses to my first article. I'm glad I could get everybody talking about the Top Five QBs in the league. However, I noticed the one thing you guys took umbrage with the most was my exclusion of Peyton Manning in the top five.
It's very simple: we don't know if he is fully healthy.
We can all speculate and conjure up guesses, but we don't REALLY know. Hell, ... Read More

This is my first post as one of the new Operation Sports bloggers covering the NFL, and I wanted to get started right away before they reconsidered the hire after all.
So my first task: List the top five Quarterbacks in the NFL. Sounds easy, right?
Wrong.
We aren't talking just fantasy football or guys to start a Madden dynasty with. I am talking top five, no questions asked. ... Read More
