I started paying attention to sports in 1978. I am from Nebraska so my very first vivid memories consist of heartache. Billy Sims running wild, late hook and laterals, and frustrating losses in Orange bowls. I took the Chicago Bears when their coach was Neil Armstrong, no wonder they stunk in those days. Anyway through thick and thin I have followed the Atlanta Braves more carefully then any favorite team not called the Huskers. I remember when Bobby Cox first managed the hapless Braves, I remember a young Dale Murphy playing catcher and first base. I remember a young manager by the name of Joe Torre leading the Braves to an improbably division title in 1982. I love the Braves! I love them when they are lovable losers, and when they are hated winners. I admire them for their consistency and their professionalism. I even rode an elevator with Skip Carrey and Pete Van Wieren in 1998. Not as exciting as it sounds btw. Bottom line, The Braves are my team.

I am more a next generation of Braves fan, but been there since I was a kid and could run around doing the tomahawk chop! haha
