Jimmy Clausen's interception to Dunta Robinson intended for Greg Olsen caused the Panthers to lose 19-13. Head coach Ron Rivera discusses the matter of Jimmy Clausen faltering in the late quarters as if we find he isn't clutch in late quarters enough times, we will test out Cam or Terrelle in late game must win situations. A few questions to be asked are, What if Jimmy Clausen is the most clutch of the three? What if this plan doesn't work out? And how secure is Clausen's starting status? Head Coach Ron Rivera answers question 3: He is the starting QB until I say otherwise. I fully trust him to take control of the team.Oct 16, 2011 - CAR at ATL

On Sportscenter, Head Coach Ron Rivera was asked who will the starting QB of the Panthers be in the upcoming weeks. His answer: It's not set in stone for the weeks after next week, but as of right now, the Panthers starting QB will be Jimmy Clausen. I feel that being a pocket passer, it will benefit us this season in our chase to the playoffs. Our second string will be Cam Newton, and our third string is Terrelle Pryor.
Q: What are the main position scouting for this years draft?
A: Well we still have two first round picks from us and the bears, then we have a fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh round pick from our own team. We will be focusing on our wide receivers, left guard, punter, and Olindo Mare might want to retire soon so another kicker.
Q: What about a Left Outside Linebacker, they seem to be a weak spot in your defense?
A: Well, starting next week Casey Matthews will be our starting left outside linebacker.

Even with Deangelo Williams out, Jonathan Stewart and the offensive line showed the Saints who's boss. Terrelle Pryor was given his second starting role of the season to start the game, after a below average first quarter, Head Coach Ron Rivera decided that for the sake of his team's record, especially since he said he wants 10 wins this season, he decided to put in second year QB Jimmy Clausen.Oct 9, 2011 - NO at CAR

The Panthers defeated the undefeated Bears. Even with Deangelo Williams going down with a herniated disk for 5 weeks, the Panthers beat the Bears. Slowly climbing to the top of the animal kingdom, the Panthers are now 2-2. Next week, Jonathan Stewart will start at the HB position, hoping to be the first team with 2 running backs of 100 or more yards on the season, Deangelo Williams is 300 yards away and Jonathan Stewart is 900 more yards away from the milestone, hoping to pick up serious yardage in the upcoming weeks.

This game should've been on Animal Planet with all of the ferocious hits, Jason Hill went out after getting hit after his only reception, Maurice Jones-Drew, Deangelo Williams, and Steve Smith all went down early to return in the second half. There were a total of 11 sacks this game 8 of which were on Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen. Next week, Terrelle Pryor makes his NFL debut vs the undefeated Bears. Can the Panthers pounce on the opportunity to end the Bears undefeated streak? Or will they fall like the Falcons, Saints, and Packers?
Note: Maurice Jones-Drew did gain a lot of yards but the defense kept stopping him on just about every hand off for a tackle for the loss in the second half.

Next week, Cam Newton will not start for the Panthers, Jimmy Clausen will take his place for 1 week, then Terrelle Pryor will start week 4, judging on what GM Brandon Olsen thinks of the QB situation, he may start Clausen and have Newton and Pryor have the year to develop. As for HB's, Deangelo Williams will start but newly signed Tiki Barber will battle for the number 2 spot with Jonathan Stewart.Sep 18, 2011 - GB at CAR
