Leafs Win Season Opener At Home Against Canadiens

James Van Riemsdyk scored his first goal as a Maple Leafs and helped propel the Leafs to a 3-0 win against the rival Montreal Canadiens. Carl Gunnarsson also scored for the Leafs and Phil Kessel helped seal the deal with an empty net goal for his first of the season. James Reimer was named the first star of the game after posting his first shutout of the season. Carl Gunnarsson was named the second star of the game after recording one goal and one assist and Phil Kessel was the third star of the game with the empty net goal.

All of the Leafs goals were scored in the third period as Montreal had a defensive meltdown and Toronto capitalized on the opportunity.
