MLB Comes Down Hard On Loup, Hands Out Lengthy Suspension____________________

TORONTO -- Major League Baseball has decided to come down hard on Blue Jays lefty reliever Aaron Loup. The MLB has announced that they have decided to hand out a suspension to the Blue Jays reliever after he was ejected from yesterday night's game between the Rangers and Blue Jays.

Loup, in his rookie season, was ejected after hitting Leonys Martin near the head area, Nelson Cruz in the leg and catcher A.J. Pierzynski in the back. After Cruz was hit, home plate umpire Jerry West issued a warning to Loup and both benches.

Is is suspected that Loup was angered by the fact that the Rangers would not stop pounding the Jays and that they kept on adding runs. After finding out about the suspension, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons showed no sympathy to the Rangers and had the following to say when asked about his take on the situation:

"Well, to be honest, I think that they deserved it or [at least] Martin and Cruz did. When your team is winning by more than ten [explicit]ing runs, you don't go out there and be an [explicit] by stealing two more bases. Same thing to Cruz, you don't show any [explicit]ing sportsmanship by going out there and hitting a home run and smiling at Aaron when you get back to the plate. That's just asking to be hit. You can go around hitting my players and I won't say a thing. It's because thats the way the game works. You do some crazy, disrespectful [explicit] and you will get hit. You can hit me back if you want, but you better not be whining.

Loup is suspended for a whopping total of 14 games. Gibbons was also fined an undisclosed amount for his comments about the situation. The Blue Jays have announced that they have called up right handed reliever Mickey Storey from Triple-A Buffalo. Storey will take Loup's spot in the bullpen, leaving only veteran Darren Oliver as the lone lefty in the bullpen. The Blue Jays play the rubber match of their three game set against the Rangers tonight. Look for it to be a heated game, with first pitch at 7:07 pm ET.
