Jays Make Flurry Of Moves Following Trade
By Tim Dierkes [May 1, 2013 at 12:03 am ET]
The Toronto Blue Jays aren't done their roster shuffling just yet. After completing a seven player, three team trade with the Pirates and Rangers, the Blue Jays have deisgnated catcher Mike Nickeas and utility man Mark DeRosa for assignment. DeRosa hit .043 for the big league club this season before getting demoted to Triple-A. The Blue Jays have also released shortstop Amadeo Zazueta, outfielder Ricardo Nanita and left fielder Ryan Langerhans. The Blue Jays claimed reliever Buddy Baumann off waivers from the Kansas City Royals. The Blue Jays also signed outfielder Evan Chambers to a contract. Chambers played in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization last season.
