Toronto Blue Jays - Games 34-37
Posted on April 13, 2012 at 03:47 PM.
Toronto saw its 20th straight victory at the end of this set of games, greatly powered by the HR ball and great starting pitching. They have a record of 34-3 and look to be the favorites to win it all this year. Jose Bautista has 16 HR now on the year and with 2 months to go already has 2 HR more then last years MVP season. Lawrie is at 9HR with 2 months to go, which is 2 more than he hit last season as well. CF Austin Jackson is now on a AAA Rehab stint (playoffs just starting, so the glitch might keep him there)

Game 34: Toronto Blue Jays 3, Cleveland Indians 1:
W: Alvarez (6-0) - 4IP 2H, 1ER, 8K (H: Howell, SV: Santos)
L: Carmona (2-4) - 5IP 7H, 1ER, 1BB
Blue Jays:
Brown - 0/3 R
Ramirez - 1/3 R, 2B
Bautista - 2/3 RBI
Heyward - 1/1 RBI, BB
Jay - 1/2 R, SB
Valencia - 0/1 RBI, SF
Indians:
Bochy - 2/2 HR, RBI, R

- Toronto got a great pitching performance from Alvarez who struck out 8 batters and only allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 4 innings. The game started with a Bautista RBI single, followed by a Heyward RBI single to make it 2-0. Ex 1st pick for Toronto Bochy hit a solo HR in the 3rd to cut it to 2-1. Valencia hit a Sacrificed Fly the same inning to make it 3-1 Toronto.

Game 35: Toronto Blue Jays 7, New York Yankees 1:
W: Romero (6-1) - 4IP 2H, 1ER, 3K (H: Cordero)
L: Sabathia (6-2) - 5IP 13H, 5ER, 1BB, 2K
Blue Jays:
Brown - 2/4 HR(5), 2RBI, 2R, 2B, K
Ramirez - 3/4 RBI, R, 2-2B, SB
Bautista - 2/4 HR(15), 2RBI, R
Heyward - 1/4 R, 2-SB
Valencia - 3/3 HR(2), RBI, R
Jay - 0/0 R, SB
Yankees:
Swisher - 1/2 HR, RBI, R

- The Jays beat the Yankees once again this time by getting 13 hits off ace Sabathia. This Blue Jays team hits great against lefties and here is proof. Romero went 4 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The Jays got a lead off solo HR from Brown to make it 1-0. Next inning, Valencia hit a ball to Granderson who missed the diving catch allowing Valencia to score an inside the park H to make it 2-0. Next inning, Hanley Ramirez hit a RBI double to make it 3-0. In the 6th, Bautista hit a 2-Run HR, Brown hit a RBI double, and Arencieba a RBI single to make it 7-0. Swisher hit a solo HR for New York in the 1st as well but thats all they would muster vs. Toronto.

Game 36: Toronto Blue Jays 7, Tampa Bay Rays 0:
W: Beachy (4-1) - 6IP, 1H, 0ER, 9K
L: Sheilds (3-5) - 1IP 4H, 4ER
Blue Jays:
Ramirez - 2/3 R, SB
Bautista - 3/3 HR(16), 2RBI, 2R, 2B
Teixiera - 1/3 RBI, R, K
Heyward - 2/3 R
Lawrie - 1/3 HR(9), 3RBI, R
Arencieba - 1/2 HR(6), RBI, R

- Toronto continued their domination behind the best start from a SP of the season from Brandon Beachy. He struck out 9 batters, while only allowing 1 hit in the complete game shutout. The 1st saw Bautista hit a solo HR, and Lawrie a 3-Run HR to make it 4-0 and chase Sheilds out of the game. Next inning didn't fare any better as Arencieba hit a solo HR, followed by a Teixiera RBI single, and Bautista RBI double to make it 7-0.

Game 37: Toronto Blue Jays 4, Boston Red Sox 1:
W: Chacin (6-0) - 5IP 2H, 1ER, 6K (SV: Santos)
L: Buchholtz (6-2) - 3.2IP 4H, 4ER, 3BB, 2K
Blue Jays:
Ramirez - 1/3 3RBI, 2B
Joyce - 0/1 R, BB
Lawrie - 1/3 R, K
Barajas - 1/3 R
Brown - 0/2 RBI
Arencieba - 0/1 R
Red Sox:
Lavarnway - 1/2 HR, RBI, R

- This was Toronto's 20th straight win, behind 5 innings of 2 hit, 1 run ball from Chacin while fanning 6 batters. The offense didn't get going until the 4th, when Hanley Ramirez his a bases clearing 3-RBI double, and Brown grounded out but got a RBI on the play to make it 3-0. Boston would try and make it close with a Lavarnway solo HR but that's all they would get.
