Jon Jay to 15-Day DL, Toronto Gets Joyce from Tampa

The Jays have lost CF Jon Jay for 30+ days with a shoulder injury. This now makes 2 Center fielders that are out long term. The team announced that they will use Domonic Brown as the teams primary CF, and newly acquired OF Matt Joyce in LF. Here is the trade:

- Toronto trades 2B Daniel Murphy to Tampa for OF Matt Joyce. Joyce was batting .200 with Tampa and needed a change of scenery. Murphy wouldn't get the playing time with Lawrie moving over to 2B, and the Rays needed a 2B because they are using Zobrist at SS. The team says when Jackson is back, they will use Joyce mainly as the teams DH, leaving Thames the odd man out again, unless he can impress the team. It looks like when Jackson gets back at the end of the season, we may see the Jays deal Thames, but only time will tell

* Note: Joyce hit his 1st HR of the year in his 2nd game of the year. Bautista has 3 HR in 3 games, and Brown has his 1st 3 HR of the year coming in 2 games - UPDATE COMING SOON*

Bye bye to Daniel Murphy ALREADY? Well, you did have a logjam in the infield... regardless, I like Matt Joyce. I knew he would be something when the Tigers traded him to Tampa a couple years back.

Lol yea I have lawrie at 2nd and izturis off bench. Murphy wasn't gettin much with jay and Thames playing alot. With 2 injuries to Jackson and jay I felt an of would be better needed. I think Joyce will be here to stay
