Games 40-43, Septemer Callups (Blue Jays)
Posted on March 25, 2012 at 07:28 PM.
The Jays improve to 35-8, but lost their 1st game vs. the Tigers in a close 3-2 match. They got victories against Baltimore, Yankees, and Tampa Bay however. In the win vs. New York, Brandon Beachy pitched a PERFECT GAME, the 2nd for the Jays this season. Its September 1st so now its time for the Call Ups. The team called up OF Ben Francisco, 1B David Cooper, 2B Luis Valbuena, and RP Joel Carreno. The Jays are expecting to give their starters breaks regularly now, especially since there are 9 games left I would think we will see the stars sat for the last 5 games resting for playoffs to prevent injury.

Game 40: Blue Jays 2, Tigers 3:
W: Fister (4-5), L: Chacin (7-2), SV: Valverde
Blue Jays:
Bautista - 2/3 RBI
Robinson - 2/2 HR(6), RBI, R
Gutierrez - 0/0 R, SB
Chacin - 3IP, 5H, 2ER, 3K
Tigers:
Fielder - 1/2 RBI, K
Cabrera - 2/2 2RBI
Fister - 4.2IP 9H, 2ER

- The Jays seem to struggle against Detroit, losing this one 3-2 despite getting 9 hits off of Fister. Chacin got his 1st loss since the 1st month of the season after a 3 inning 5 hit, 2 run game. Fielder got it started in the 1st with an RBI single. In the 3rd, Cabrera, hit a 2-RBI single to make it 3-0. The Jays made it close after a Trayvon Robinson solo HR, and a Bautista RBI single but couldn't get any closer losing 3-2.

Game 41: Blue Jays 6, Orioles 1:
W: Alvarez (7-1), L: Bundy (1-5)
Blue Jays:
Jackson - 1/3 R, 2B, K
Young - 3/3 2RBI, R, 2B
Lind - 2/3 RBI, R, 2B
Johnson - 1/3 RBI, R, 2B
Robinson - 0/1 R, SB, BB
Thames - 1/1 2RBI, R
Alvarez - 3IP 3H, 1ER, 3K
Orioles:
Jones - 1/2 RBI
Bundy - 4IP 9H, 6ER, BB, 2K

- The Jays end their mini 2 game losing streak by beating up the Orioles behind Alvarez 3 inning, 3 hit, 1run game fanning 3. Alvarez has been great this year in his rookie season with a 7-1 record. The Jays started it off in the 1st as Lind hit an RBI double to make it 1-0. The Orioles in the same inning got an RBI single from Adam Jones to make it 1-1. There was no action until the 4th when Delmon Young hit a 2RBI double, Johnson an RBI double, and Eric Thames (as a pinch hitter) driving in 2 RBI with a single to finish the game 6-1.

Game 42: Blue Jays 5, Yankees 0:
W: Beachy (8-1), L: Hughes (3-4)
Blue Jays:
Jackson - 2/3 2R, SB
Bautista - 3/3 3RBI, R, 2-2B
Johnson - 1/3 RBI
Lawrie - 1/3 HR(7), RBI, R
Vizquel - 1/3 R
Beachy - 5IP 0H, 0ER, 4K
Yankees:
Hughes - 5IP 13H, 5ER, BB

- The Jays continue their domination of the Yankees this season behind a PERFECT GAME by Brandon Beachy who's a contender with Chacin from Toronto, and others for the Cy Young award. The perfect game is the 2nd of the Jays incredible season. In the 1st, Bautista hit a 2-RBI double to make it 2-0. The next inning, Lawrie hit a solo HR, his 7th of the year, and Johnson hit an RBI single to make it 4-0. In the 3rd Bautista hit another double this time getting 1RBI to make it 5-0 and ending the scoring.

Game 43: Blue Jays 5, Rays 1:
W: Luebke (4-3), L: Niemann (2-5)
Blue Jays:
Jackson - 2/3 RBI, 2R, 2-2B, K
Young - 0/1 RBI, SF
Bautista - 1/1 RBI, BB
Lawrie - 1/2 R, 2B
Arencieba - 2/2 RBI, R
Thames - 1/2 R
Lind - 0/1 RBI, SF
Luebke - 3IP 4H, 1ER, 3K
Orioles:
Scott - 1/2 RBI, 2B
Niemann - 2IP 6H, 5ER, 1BB

- The Jays get another nice win here vs. Baltimore, led by Luebke 3 inning 4 hit, 1 run game while striking out 3. The Jays got a RBI single by Bautista in the 1st to make it 1-0. The 2nd saw Adam Jones RBI single tie it, but then Arencieba RBI single, Jackson RBI double, Young Sacrifice Fly, and Lind Sacrifice Fly made it 5-1 which would be the final score.
