Posted on March 16, 2012 at 01:46 PM.
The Jays start the season 2-1 with wins against Cleveland and Orioles but lose to the Red Sox. The loss also meant the loss of Bautista for 11 days due to a sore shoulder after sliding into 2nd on a double.Travis Snider will slide into the starting role for Jose.

Game 1: Blue Jays 2, Indians 0:
W: Romero (1-0), L: Jimenez (0-1), SV: Santos (1)
Blue Jays:
Johnson - 2/2 HR (1), RBI, R
Rasmus - 1/2, R, 2B
Romero - 4.0IP, 1H, 1BB, 0ER, 5K
Indians:
Jimenez - 5IP, 6H, 2ER, 3K

- This game was a pitchers duel as Romero ended where he left off with a 1 hit performance over 4 innings with 5 K's to beat Cleveland. Jimenez was equally impressive except for the 3rd when Kelly Johnson smacked a solo HR out of the park to make it 1-0. Rasmus doubled later in the inning and was brought home when Francisco's fly out moved Rasmus over, but the throw in was into the dugout from the OF allowing Rasmus to score on the error. Santos came in to pitch a perfect 5th for save number 1.

Game 2: Blue Jays 0, Red Sox 2:
W: Beckett (1-0), L: Morrow (0-1)
Blue Jays:
Morrow - 2.1IP, 6H, 2ER, 1K
Red Sox:
Beckett - 5IP, 4H, 2K
Pedroia - 1/2, RBI
Crawford - 1/2, RBI

- The Jays couldn't muster any offense vs. the Sox and if they want to compete in the tough AL East they need to beat the tough teams. Morrow struggled in his 1st start and mentioned after the game the trade rumors were distracting, but was no excuse for his play. He also talked about his desires to remain in Toronto. Jose Bautista will be out 11 days after injuring his shoulder while sliding into 1st. Travis Snider will get extra time to impress in the 2-3 game absence. Early in the 1st, Carl Crawford knocked in a run to make it 1-0 and again in the second Morrow was bat around to allow another RBI single to Pedroia.

Game 3: Blue Jays 8, Orioles 2:
W: Alvarez (1-0), L: Bundy (0-1)
Blue Jays:
Escobar - 1/3, R
Lawrie - 1/3, HR (1), 2RBI, 2R
Lind - 2/3, HR (1), RBI, 2R
Encarnacion - 2/3, R
Arencieba - 1/2, 3RBI, R. 2B
Rasmus - 1/2, R
Francisco - 1/2, RBI
Snider - 1/2, RBI, 2B
Alvarez - 3.2IP, 3H, 1ER, 1K

- The Jays bounce back vs. Baltimore and strike for 8 Runs behind a nice 1st start for Alvarez. Alvarez allowed 1 run in 3.2 innings while striking out 1. McClellan allowed the 2nd run in the final inning in his 1st action with Toronto. Arencieba started off a 5 Run 1st inning with a 3 RBI double with the bases loaded. Snider knocked in Arencieba with a double and then Francisco knocked in him to make it 5-0. Jai Miller hit a RBI triple in the 3rd, and in the 4th Lawrie's 2-Run Homer, and Lind's solo shot back-back made it 8-1. Last inning, Nolan Riemold hit a solo HR off McClellan to finish the scoring.NEXT: Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Baltimore, Seattle
