With a 7-1-2 record, the Caps currently sit in 2nd in the division. Alex Ovechkin is leading the team offensively as expected, but the big issues come from the 2nd and 3rd line players. Guys like Justin Williams, TJ Oshie need to step up their offensive games. So far the secondary scoring has basically been Kuznetsov and Buravosky, which bodes well for the future, but in the short term we need the veterans to perform.

So far I've made 1 trade, sending a fairly good prospect and a draft pick to Toronto for some young guys they weren't really playing and who have little potential. Taylor Beck has struggled with the rest of the depth lines to score, but Stuart Percy has performed well paired on the 3rd pair with Dmitry Orlov to date.

Goaltending has been great when Holtby is in net, but Jusitn Peters allowed 7 goals in 3 periods and is now in the AHL, with Phillip Grubauer being called up at the end of the month.
