After a busy offseason last year, we enter this season with a fairly new look as an organization. We still have some great prospects developing, but for the most part our young players are NHL ready now. Nishi has grown into one of the premiere goaltenders in the league at the age of 25 and with B,B,B potential, still shows he can grow rapidly in the next 2 seasons.

Waivers:
DAL acquires G - Steve Mason from LA
Trade Deadline:
To Phoenix Coyotes:
RW - Kim Sundstrom
RW - Eric Ming
G - Corbin Boes
To Dallas Stars:
RW - Matthew Joslin
C - Ryan Stoa
C - Rod Pelley (waived)
End of Regular Season:
Record: 40-32-10 (16th in NHL, 8th in West)
2.78 Goals For Per Game (12th in NHL)
2.60 Goals Against Per Game (12th in NHL)
19.5% Powerplay Efficiency (4th in NHL)
83.2% Penalty Kill Efficiency (13th in NHL)
A disappointing regular season had us win our last game to be Detroit for 8th by 1 point. Lots of injuries to the defensive core led to some big stretches where we had big losing streaks. Hopefully by next year they will be able to stay healthier and we can get back to our Presidents Trophy contending selves.
The one positive I take though, the depth players had a better year overall, so it's just the top 6 and d-core that really needs improvement.
PLAYOFFS:
Round 1 vs. Nashville Predators:
Game 1: 4-1 Win.
Game 2: 0-4 Loss.
Game 3: 2-1 Win.
Game 4: 1-0 Win.
Game 5: 1-2 Double OT Win.
4-1 Series Win.
A series where Trent Lofthouse, among a few others, was injured turned out to be very strong defensively. Nishi's .955% and 1.30 GAA really helped out as the team was outplayed for the most part in the series.
Round 2 vs. Phoenix Coyotes:
Game 1: 3-0 Win.
Game 2: 2-6 Loss.
Game 3: 4-1 Win.
Game 4: 2-1 Win.
Game 5: 1-2 Loss.
Game 6: 2-3 Loss.
Game 7: 4-3 Win.
4-3 Series Win.
A weaker series, but we were able to pull through. Nishi continues to carry the team for the most part. Need more offence from the top 2 lines.
Western Conference Finals vs. Edmonton Oilers:
Game 1: 3-4 OT Loss.
(Tyutin injured; Ruter in. Doell in; Stillman out)
Game 2: 1-4 Loss.
(Nishi Injured; Lundstrom starting, Mason back-up)
Game 3: 5-3 Win.
Game 4: 2-4 Loss.
Game 5: 2-5 Loss.
1-4 Series Loss.
Another disappointing playoff run, losing Nishi in game 2 was a near impossible obstacle to overcome on a team who had relied on him so much this post-season. Luckily the young guys get some experience and we have numerous assets to move to improve the team in the offseason. Next year is cup or bust.
Our AHL Team, The Texas Stars, managed to win the Calder Cup!

Analysis:
Although currently an unsigned RFA, Hauf is one of the elite young d-men in the league. With a 90 overall, he is a defensive gem who doesn't bring much offensively or in terms of speed. The intention is to use him on a pairing with Graham Doell, who is the polar opposite player. Trading Corriveau wasn't a move I wanted to make, but with my abundance of forwards who are ready for the big leagues, it made sense when it came down to improving the team.

Nice mix of youth and vets, I imagine Eriksson won't be around much longer. His numbers have been going doing for a while now.
