No trades this season, I decided my organizational strength is enough that I'd rather keep what I have rather than give away prospects for NHL players.
End Of Season Results:
After another slow start, we finished very strong, aided by strong late-season goal tending by Roberto Luongo.

Playoffs:
Round 1 vs. Nashville Predators:
Game 1: 6-1 Win
(Eriksson injured, Richardson in.)
Game 2: 3-2 Win.
Game 3: 1-2 Loss.
Game 4: 3-5 Loss.
Game 5: 3-7 Loss.
Game 6: 4-1 Win.
(Eriksson back, Tommy Pyatt out)
Game 7: 1-0 Win.
A scary series, injuries almost de-railed us by Sean Couturier had a huge 9 point series. Luongo showing something big in the last game. AHL team eliminated, top AHL players will be made available if needed. Nishi to be back-up.
Round 2 vs. Los Angeles Kings:
Game 1: 1-2 Loss.
Game 2: 2-5 Loss.
(Karl Alzner injured, Ray Stillman called up. Emil Molin called up, Brad Richardson scratched)
Game 3: 3-2 OT Win.
Game 4: 2-3 Double OT Loss.
(Alzner in, Stillman scratched; Nishi starts, Luongo back-up)
Game 5: 6-3 Win.
Game 6: 5-3 Win.
Game 7: 4-7 Loss. (2 EN)
A tough game for the young Nishi, Los Angeles dominated for long stretches and completely outclassed my top 6, especially when Couturier went out with injury. The bottom 6 was strong, but couldn't produce enough to overcome the deficit we put ourselves in early.
Stanley Cup Champions:
Montreal Canadiens
Final Season Review:
Our defence wasn't great in the playoffs, and we didn't have a lot of NHL caliber scorers yet, but next season many prospects are expected to be ready and the teams average age is expected to go way down. It's an exciting time in Dallas with the young guys looking ready to make an impact, and Dallas expected to be a big time player for the "Franchise" defenceman available in this seasons draft.
OFFSEASON:
Retirements:
LW - Taylor Pyatt (1,036 GP, 160 G, 182 A, 342 P)
G - Roberto Luongo (997 GP, 496 W, 380 L, 83 SO, 1 Cup)
Didn't expect Luongo to retire, hopefully Nishi is ready to take over the starting role full time next season.

Well, a very active offseason leads to a team with a very new look for itself. The teams lack of a true #1 center forced me to trade for top Center prospect , 21 year old Trent Lofthouse, who is ready for the NHL this season. With so many of our defensive prospects ready, as well as the acquisition of David Musil, we decided to completely re-vamp the defensive core, and only Bogosian and Coburn, as well as Nick Schultz, remain from last season. With youngsters like Musil, Hacker and Stillman ready to step up though, we are confident it was the correct move at this time.
On forward, along with Lofthouse, Alex Galchenyuk impressed in the #2 role last season, and with the re-signing of Shawn Matthias, as well as Mike Fisher and Brad Richardson remaining on the team, our center spot looks fairly strong. Natural centerman Emil Molin will move to wing, where he played for us in the post season last year, and Pontus Aberg and Claes Norden will also make their way onto the team. Raphael Corriveau will also join the NHL squad this season. The hulking RW is looking poised to be an immediate impact player, and on a line with Couturier and Matthias, should help to create a very big, strong shut down line.
The surprise retirement of Roberto Luongo left us in a relatively awkward position. In free agency, there wasn't much available as far as potential starters go, so along with the young Nishi, we've decided to keep Justin Peters for the 106 games of NHL experience he has at this point, just incase things don't go well for our stud goaltending prospect.
While moving forward, all the young players may see us struggle a bit this upcoming season, getting them the valuable NHL experience they need to make us a year in year out Stanley Cup favourite. Keeping our stars like Bobby Ryan, Loui Eriksson, Zach Bogosian and Braydon Coburn for a few more seasons will definitely help as well. With a lot of cap room moving forward, the Dallas Stars management feel we're only a season or two removed from being completed our rebuild.

I may wind up keeping him as a back-up. Right now my 3rd goalie is 22 year old Michael Nishi. He is one of my top prospects, has an 80 overall now and A-,B,B potential, so I have him doing one final AHL season then next season he should be the NHL starter and Luongo should be his back-up

Looks good man, awesome find in Nishi. Lol @ how Ryan outscored everyone even after missing those games.

How good was Hacker?
I like your team, solid youth movement going on, Lofthouse should prove to be a great center, although he is often a little too slow for my liking. I think Nishi will be able to step up and replace Luongo.

Hacker is an 84 overall, not a lot of potential, but on one of my old GM Modes, with the Boston Bruins, I had a guy start with lower overall and worse potential get to 94 overall, so not too worried. So far in my next season he is proving to be a really good puck carrying and moving d-man.
I've had Lofthouse on my Tampa one that is currently being played at the same time as this one, and found the same thing, once I got some quicker centers he didn't last too long, but for now he's a very solid fill in who can probably get me a good haul if I decide to move him.
Nishi has been solid so far, better then expected..
Here is my next season's thread, I will continue to edit it throughout the season and will even do a team points update after 41 games. Please follow and give some input as I look for a top gun, my team can't score!!!
