http://www.operationsports.com/Bloop...-stars-year-1/
Starting Line-up for 2012-13 Season:
Trade Deadline:
To Vancouver Canucks:
G - Kari Lehtonen
D - Brett Clark
2014 4th Round Pick
2015 4th Round Pick
To Dallas Stars:
G - Roberto Luongo
D - Aaron Rome
Analysis:
Lehtonen was really struggling this season, and with Luongo we get a capable starter who is signed long term. It will give us time to draft an elite goaltender and give him time to develop. While I'm not a huge Luongo fan, I'll admit he can be one of the best goalies in the league. Rome was a fill in. He'll never play for my team.
To St. Louis Blues:
C - Dominic Moore
RW - Antti Miettinen
To Dallas Stars:
LW - Jaden Schwartz
D - Mark Cundari
Analysis:
In this trade we offloaded some vets who weren't getting playing time for some youngsters. Schwartz could be NHL ready as soon as next season while Cundari could develop into a 5th or 6th defencemen in 2-3 seasons. Slight gamble on him, but Moore and Miettinen aren't likely a part of my future anyways.
I wound up sneaking into the playoffs. I was well ahead of Vancouver in games played, so was finished my 82 games when they still had 3 to play. On the last day they wound up being shut out by Edmonton 1-0 and it was enough to allow me to make the cut by 1 point with a 41-37-4 record.
Playoffs:
Round 1 vs. St. Louis Blues:
Game 1: 3-0 Win.
Game 2: 2-1 OT Win.
Game 3: 5-3 Win.
Game 4: 2-1 Loss.
Game 5: 4-3 OT Win.
4-1 Series Win.
Well, we finally got to the playoffs after looking like we might miss until the last day. A big series by the veteran's like Selanne and Luongo saw us brush aside the Blues. While our success is mostly due to Luongo, I've been very impressed by some of the role players like Adam Burish who are stepping up with Bobby Ryan currently on IR.
AHL:
The Texas Stars, who went 53-16-7 in their regular season, played against the Charlotte Checkers. A big series by Ben Smith led to a sweep into the second round for my developmental team.
Round 2 vs. Calgary Flames:
Game 1: 3-1 Loss.
Game 2: 4-2 Loss.
Game 3: 4-2 Win.
Game 4: 1-0 Win.
Game 5: 4-1 Loss.
Game 6: 3-1 Loss.
4-2 Series Loss.
Well, we couldn't find a way to win on the road against the Flames, and Bobby Ryan being all for all 6 games didn't help. Luongo continued to play strong though, and finished the playoffs with a .937% and 2.03 GAA. Looking forward, our young core may be partially split up to get some players in the upcoming draft who look very promising.

Ok I reckon I stumbled upon your blog but once I did was kinda glad. So I need more details on what season you were on. For me it's just take it out of the box and start playing. Am really impressed with your detail to attention and posting it as well. What's your thought's of the new NHL13

Yeah, currently I have 2 going, this one in 2013-14 now, and Another one as the Tampa Bay Lightning that is in 2026-27 I believe. I'm trying to make it at simple as possible but suddenly they've gotten jumbled together, so I'm taking steps to organize it better.
Thanks, After my first 10 or so Blog posts, I realized I could do a much better job of it, hopefully it's coming around. When I get NHL 13 I'll be even more in depth I think.
As for my thoughts on the upcoming game, it'll be awesome. The new features should make players more unique and you'll really have to build to fit a certain style, which is exactly what I want in the game. The most exciting thing for me though, is definitely GM Connected, especially if it's between some guys that use this site. I can picture it now, weekly reports coming from different clubs perspectives, more people will be in tune with what is actually going on, the potential for armchair GM's. It'll be great.
In my mind, it'll be much better than NHL 12 was. Once I heard Dean Richards was back I was pretty excited, because when he was around, I was REALLY into each years upgrades, and 13 doesn't seem like it will disappoint one bit.
