Here is the link to the previous season, including a very active offseason that saw some perhaps surprising changes to my line-up:
http://www.operationsports.com/Bloop...025-26-season/
Coming into the 2026-27 season, we've just won our 6th cup. The departure of 2013 #1 Pick, Vladimir Fedotov has left a hole to be filled by super-prospect Logan Nicholls. The young RW had a few strong performances in the games he was in last season in the playoffs and is hoping to make an immediate impact skating on the second line with Galchenyuk and Svitov.
The most shocking move was the trade of 2x Vezina winner, Tuukka Miettinen. His inability to stay healthy and perform at a high level in the playoffs became too much, so we shipped him to Minnesota for the former 1st overall draft choice in 2015, Jared Henderson. Henderson has been one of the top goalies in the league but Minnesota had no scoring support. This year should prove to be different for the 29 year old as he finally finds himself on a team that can compete for the Cup.
On defence, the addition of Landon Cross as well as Casey Borer's emergence as a good offensive minded d-man has really strengthened the back end after many seasons of having a sub-par third pairing. With Tanabe, Helgesen, Guenther and Cross all over the age of 31, young players like Borer and the captain Jerry Berry are beginning to step into roles that they'll maintain as the team moves forward.
Starting Line-up:
4 Games in, Nicholls went down with Post-Concussion Syndrome, so a former 4th Round selection by myself, Stephane Rheaume, is being rewarded for accepting his qualifying offer by being placed on the 2nd line to show what he has for the next 4-5 weeks.

2027 4th Round Pick
To Tampa Bay Lightning:

Analysis:
Not much to say about this one. Blouin and Klinge are NHL-ready, but no room on my team, so I decided to get some prospects who are good enough to help out my AHL team. Langfeld, 23, projects to be a big sniper who may be able to put up 25+ goals next season. Keller is 24, but has good size and speed for a defenceman and has a very good defensive game. Gives us another option moving forward for the back-end.

TB Claims D Paul Tkachuk off waivers from SJ
Trade Deadline:
To Philadelphia Flyers:
RW - Stephane Rheaume
D - Jayden Samson
D - Paul Tkachuk
To Tampa Bay Lightning:
D - Larry Liffiton
Analysis:
Well, this deal was made possible through some waiver pick ups and also the addition of Keller and Langfeld in the last trade. Rheaume was a warrior, but at age 24 and no regular spot on the NHL squad, it was time for him to be moved to somewhere where he could become an NHL regular. Samson was struggling in the AHL since being picked up from waivers early in the season, so the 23 year old was made expendable with additonal defencemen joining the organization since. Tkachuk was a recent waiver wire pick up, and the NHL worthy defenceman will serve Philly well.
As for Liffiton, He was selected 66th overall in 2024 by the Flyers, and has developed, perhaps, into one of the top 5 prospects in the league. At age 21, he will not make the NHL team for a season or two, but with A-,A-,A potential, it won't be long until he is a superstar. Adding him to a great young defensive nucleus, we seem to be more than prepared for the day in the next 4-6 years when Guenther, Tanabe and Helgesen all retire.

Playoffs:
Heading into game 1, Baptiste, Galchenyuk and Nicholls are all hurt, so the offensive depth players will really have to step up to fill the void.
Round 1 vs. Philadelphia Flyers:
Game 1: 6-1 Win.
(Galchenyuk, Nicholls in; Rowe, Nelson out)
Game 2: 3-0 Win.
(Erskine injured; Rowe in)
Game 3: 1-2 Loss.
Game 4: 3-0 Win.
(Erskine in; Rowe out)
Game 5: 2-1 OT Win.
(Erskine out; Rowe in)
4-1 Series Win.
A great series by Jared Henderson sees us roll over rival Philly. Danny Erskine got injured twice in the series, so we've really relied on some younger guys offensively. Galchenyuk once again proving to be a great playoff performer with 4 points in 4 games after missing game 1.
Round 2 vs. Buffalo Sabres:
Game 1: 4-3 OT Win.
(Cross injured, Rowe scratched; Johnathan Gelech, Nicholas Baptiste in)
Game 2: 2-1 Win.
(Johnathan Gelech injured; Lance Gelech in)
Game 3: 2-4 Loss.
Game 4: 2-5 Loss.
(Danny Erskine in; Stu Nolan out)
Game 5: 2-3 Loss.
Game 6: 3-1 Win.
Game 7: 4-2 Win.
4-3 Series Win.
A tight series saw former back-up Alexeev take Henderson all the way in a poor defensive series by my team. Some key injuries on defence came about, but we were able to overcome and move on to the Eastern Conference Finals once again!
Eastern Conference Finals vs. New York Islanders:
Game 1: 1-2 Loss.
Game 2: 5-2 Win.
Game 3: 2-3 Double OT Win.
Game 4: 2-4 Loss.
Game 5: 5-1 Win.
Game 6: 1-2 Loss.
4-2 Series Loss.
A shocker, to say the least. Henderson struggled a bit, but so did our offence throughout the series. Very disappointing end to the season, and raises some questions about our core moving forward.
