Start of the Year Roster
Going to sim through the season and most of the playoffs, will play important playoff games only. I want to end this one by the end of the week.
All Star Game:
Danny Wilm, Cameron Callahan, Phil Hartnell and Calle Moller all made the 2035 All Star Game.
Trade Deadline
Traded D - Sheldon Ast for forward depth for playoffs, C - Daniel Paradis and C - Rudy Weaver.
Playoffs:
Playoff Roster:
Unlike previous seasons, I will only play key games, including all of the finals should I make it.
Round 1 vs. Buffalo Sabres:
Once again, the Sabres are our first round match-up. We went down 2-1 in the series, and lost Rich Cleeve for 3 weeks in game 4 win, but wound up winning 4-2 in a series that saw Calle Moller show why he has won 3 Conn Smythe Trophies in the past 4 Seasons.
Round 2 vs. New York Islanders:
Another team that has become somewhat of a rival. Game 1 went to the Isle, Game 2 to the Bruins, but Ray Cunning went down for 4-5 weeks. Unable to call up defencemen to replace the two injured d-men, Fast and Hartnell will have to finish out the series double shifting. While Cleeve was available game 5, I had taken a 3-1 series lead, so left him out to fully recover. We lost the game, but won game 6, and the series. Moller once again carried the team through the series.
Round 3 vs. Carolina Hurricanes:
Well, for the ump-teenth time, the Carolina Hurricanes stand in between me and the Stanley Cup Finals. Game 1 was a 4-0 shutout for Carolina, completely shutting down every part of my game, while also injuring Eugene Commodore. Game 2 was a 4-1 win, and it's starting to look bleak. May have to play if I lose game 3 as well. Well, things didn't get better, a 6-2 loss has us on the brink of elimination. Carolina and their fans have been hoping for this for quite some time. I will play the remainder of the series, win or lose, it could be my last game with some of the key players in my Franchises history. I won game 4 in a 6-1 wash, but game 5 was a different story. Boyes became a wall, and some in-game injuries hurt out forward core. Tied 1-1, we went to overtime, where Boyes made numerous saves until former Bruin, Kenneth Brind'Amour, blasted one past Moller. 4-1 series.
Post Season Review:
Well, it wasn't the playoff run we had hoped for, wanting a 5th straight Stanley Cup. Injuries to Eugene Commodore and Ray Cunning as well as Tyrell, Stokes and Quirk in the final didn't leave us with much offensively. Moller let in some weaker goals than we've become acustomed to, and Wilm had a tough time scoring. In the end, we just had too much money invested into a few guys and didn't have the organizational depth that won us the 4 straight cups.
Retirements:
Chris Carlisle (1,417 GP, 50 G, 196 A, 246 P)
Pavel Radulov (620 GP, 85 G, 160 A, 245 P)

Team looks real good. All around mostly. First line, wow what a power house haha, if only Tyrell was a few years younger (believe he was higher overall?). Defense is solid as well as goal tenders. Good luck man, nice to see that many players make the all star team as well, I only typically have 1 or 2.

Yeah, everyone is old but most of the "old boys" are at their peak. Trading Baron and Tokarski (As I showed in my final offseason moves in the last blog post) for Commodore was risky, but so far it's working out.
As for Tyrell, yeah, he was a 95 overall 2 seasons ago, it's too bad he is slowing down, but he is still effective at 38.
I usually get 1 forward and 1 d-man and sometimes a goalie, having 4 is a change. Not sure how Moller made it, it hasn't been his greatest season.
Almost done the season, currently 55-20-3 with the bad start I had.

Wow very nice good luck in playoffs. Glad to see the move working out for you.
I just started playing 2018-2019 season for my OTT team (see GM thread on these forums if you want details on my team). Only problem is that I play 1 game then sim 3, and during sim I get a lot of injuries... kind of sucks constantly editing lines and players being out.

Yeah I took a look. How do you like Kupstov? I always draft him early on, he always wants too much money in the end for what I use him as, but he always seems to start out really strong as a young player.

Well I have only played 2 games with my team so far, so haven't used him much. Still trying to get my sliders correct haha. I was going for a player like Giroux, someone who can score and also be that assist type of guy and play a little defense with decent speed. Kupstov was the guy I found to be similar, strong offensively and alright defensively. Wish he had a little more speed to be more of a potential threat. I need someone to lead me on the PP though too =p. I'll play more games tomorrow and hopefully form a better opinion haha.

Just lost in the Eastern Conference Finals...Moller had his worst ever playoff performance of his career...Possibly Tyrell's final season. Will do a year end wrap up, then start next season, the final season with Boston.
