Boston Bruins, 2031-32 Season. Season Review+Offseason Moves.
Posted on May 31, 2012 at 02:31 AM.
Here are my changes:
Trade Deadline:
Traded away some picks and minor leaguers for Brent Pedersen and Tyson Desantis, as well as Bryant Froese. Other than that, we had no changes in the line-up going into playoffs. I was the top seed in the East, 3rd overall in the NHL.
Yearly Team Stats:
Final Ranking: 3rd in NHL
3.22 Goals For Per Game (2nd in NHL)
2.61 Goals Against Per Game (7th in NHL)
19.8% Powerplay (9th in NHL)
84.1% Penalty Kill (6th in NHL)

Round 1 was against the Winnipeg Jets, which we took easily in a 4-0 sweep.
Round 2 was against small rivals, New York Rangers. They won a game, but in the end we won 4-1 in what was a great series by Calle Moller.
Round 3 was difficult, Calle Moller (among others) was injured in game 1, and would miss the rest of playoffs. It was against arch rivals the Carolina Hurricanes, and both teams lost 5 players each for at least 1 game during the series. In the end, we get to game 7, but I completely shut them down and we won 4-2.
Round 4 was against the St. Louis Blues. While their defence was the best I played against, their offence was weak, not challenging Lehtivuori often. We won 4-1 and won the Stanley Cup!
Conn Smythe to Danny Wilm.

Offseason:
Well, there were a lot of retirements this season in the NHL, but no team was hit as hard as the Phoenix Coyotes, who lost 9 players, all with 800+ Games each of experience in the NHL. I myself lost Tyson Desantis and a few other AHLers.
I only had a few late round picks in the draft, as I'm going to ride out my older players as much as I can to finish this GM Mode File. Nothing of note, for now.
First of all, had to re-sign some players, including Joe Tyrell, who didn't take a pay cut from the $12.5kk I give him per season right now. Froese, Maxwell, Zinger all walked to Free Agency.
So far, I've traded a few picks away as well as Brent Pedersen for Patrick Stajan (quick bio below) and some cap space. Made some other Roster updates. Will do a table on that after a while.
Patrick Stajan: 21 years old, Canadian. 6'1", 200 lbs. Drafted 26th overall in 2030 by the Boston Bruins. 0 NHL games, was traded last season, but since he wasn't used in the NHL, and only played 6 AHL games (scoring 4 points), I decided to get him back. Will be used on a 4th line role, but will also fill in on the Powerplay, since Jamie Baron has made a home on the point on the Powerplay. Hoping to get 15 goals and 35 points from him.
Will post a Roster Update in the next week, and will also edit my full Team Bio page.

Great job bloop! Looks like you had a lot of depth carrying you the whole way. Looks like your goalies were pretty dominate as well. Tough to let go of some players, hate when they progress and want a higher salary. Always nice to build with your younger guys though, pretty much a never ending cycle, at least for me.

Yeah, as you can tell by players ages on my other one, I've been 'rebuilding' in quick spurts lately. I change up how I build from file to file, but this Boston one has been very efficient so far, although I may run into trouble soon with so many aging players all so close together. Oh well, cap space!
