Pt III
So like i said guys, in these continuation we will be taking a look at the roster the Toronto Raptors have assembled for the 2014-2015 season.
(Note: I played all 8 pre season games to get a feel for how things would go)
Before i get into too much depth, we had the worst possible beginning to the season. In game one Jerryd Bayless went down with a season ending ACL injury. Couldn't believe our luck. So i dove into what was left on the FA pool after the off season and took a look at some other combo guards. As you'd expect there wasn't a whole lot of choice. Then i happened to read an article on Bleacher Report about one Pierre Jackson. And wow. Being in New Zealand i don't get to see all that much D-League. But i did a little more research and was lucky enough to bring him in on the same contract as Bayless was on, who was subsequently released.
We had a very strong pre season despite the Bayless injury, Jackson did a great job of coming in and being a scoring option off the bench. We also had Valanciunas go down with a knee injury after 3 games. To which our front court depth proved vital and they came through big time.
Finish with a record of 6-2, with notable wins against the Thunder & Spurs. Although we dropped both games versus the Knicks. To which we just got outplayed at the power forward spot. After JV went down. Amir Johnson slid to the 5 spot. Which left us with below average perimeter defense to cover Bargnani.
Individual Stats
Clearly DeMar would be our star player through this stretch who posted in every column of the box score over all 8 games. DeMar has made it known that he will be aiming for a Starting All Star spot this season, and also hopefully pushing himself up in the All NBA 2nd team.
Kurtis Holden also came in and got straight to work, setting himself up as the 3rd best assist man by a clear stretch. Essentially placing himself above Hansbrough in the rotation. Also thinking he could made a strong case for the ROTY award.
The team is aiming for yet another playoff berth this season, and also retaining that Division Title once again. With a roster just as strong depsite some of the losses the past off season brought us we will be looking to make a deeper run this year also after gaining some very valuable playoff experience.
This will also be another big year in terms of roster movement especially in our front court as Amir Johnson, Tyler Hansbrough & Chucky Hayes are all in the final years of their contract.
So potentially an exceptional chance for Kurtis Holden to prove his worth and take the starting spot next season. But there also a new draft class full of frontcourt depth so that is another route we could take. Notably Cincinnati man Kareem Bishop. Realistically we will hopefully be looking towards guys like Gregory Livingston (Washington), Raheem Thompson (Georgetown) and Kenneth Carter (Missouri)
Lastly before i wrap this up. Using a random number generator i will determine the first game i will play this season. 1 will be before the All Star Break and one will be after.
Game 1:
Minnesota Timberwolves

This will be my first attempt at compiling a Dynstay on the OS forums.
Until i figure out a way to get some quality pics etc on here, i will be relying on the Table Generators here on OS.
I follow the same "House Rules" as these from Dreece.
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...sociation.html
House Rules:
1. I play 2 predeterminded games in each calendar year(simming the rest)I play all playoff games if we qualify
2. Since I only control 1 team, player roles will be off and trading will only be active from Christmas to the trade deadline. This usually cuts down on random stupid trades by the cpu.
3. ABSOLUTELY no in season drills! Post season drills are allowed on 1st and 2nd year players only.
4. Can only trade or attain a 1st round pick once every 3 years.
5. The use of untapped potential is allow but only once every 3 years...give your young guys time to develop. On rare occassions will a real life NBA team continue to draft high rated players at the same position before they know if they lost out on their initial investment.

Roster Set: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...k14-360-a.html

PART I:
I began with "Today" simply because the Raptors are on a tear and deserve to be playoff bound.
Funnily enough we made the Playoffs with the 4 Seed. Actually being the only team above .500 in our division.
Demar DeRozan was named to the all NBA 3rd team. Which i truly believe is well deserved after watching him this season.
We faced off against the Wizards in round 1 and took them down in 5 games. Then got swept by the Pacers in the second.
Would you believe it the Spurs took on the Heat in the finals for the second season running except this time they took them down!
John Salmons retired, Vasquez, Patterson & Lowry have all taken to testing FA.
Draft night actually blew my mind, had to be one of the strangest drafts i have ever partaken in.
Salmons retired. Patterson & Vasquez hit FA, and i cut Landry Fields. Refuse to pay that contract to an extra seat on the bench
My Free Agency Highlights
Kyle Lowry 3yr/21.86mil
I brought him back as he had such a fantastic 13-14 campaign and i'm hoping to mold Ashley into this same kind of player with a few years of tutelage from K Low.
Vince Carter 1yr/1.17mil
Purely a nostalgia move! Some Raptor fans don't ever want him back. Personally i love VC. And this may be his last year at the age of 37 he's not gonna be playing big minute s by any stretch but to fill Landry Fields spot for 1/7th of the contract, money well spent.
Matt Barnes 2yr/2.94mil
I was hoping to keep Salmons for one more year, unfortunately with his retirement that left us a little bare at the 3. So i picked up Barnes up hopefully to bring some off that Veteran back we lost.
Jerryd Bayless 2yr/3.96mil
This last spot was a litte tough for me to fill. I knew i needed another guard but there were many options, i didn't want to particulary over pay for. So this was essentially a short term stop gap until Walker is ready to take on extra mintues.
Traning Camps.
Easy choice right here.
Ashley Walker (PG) - Untapped Potential. If i'm only doing it once every 3 years, then why not start with the guy we just brought in to take over the PG spot in roughly 3 years time.
My next post will detail the squad for the 2014-2015 season, our objectives moving forward and some prospects that my scouts will be keeping an eye on.
