Before the 2017 season, there were many needs that needed to be addressed in order to bolster the roster for another playoff push, with the 28th Championship as the goal for the season. These are the trades that were made.

Acquired: C Blake Swihart and 3B Alex Rodriguez from BOS
Traded: C Gary Sanchez, CF Billy Burns, SP Luke Jackson

Acquired: SP Kevin Gausman from BAL
Traded: SP Nathan Eovaldi and 2 minor league prospects

Acquired: CF Craig Gentry from DET
Traded: CF Kike Hernandez and CF Jordan Schafer

Acquired: RP Al Alburquerque from DET
Traded: RP Brandon League and 2 minor league prospects

Acquired: C Christian Bethancourt from ARI
Traded: C Geovany Soto and 2 minor league prospects
