McLane Bounces Back as Panthers Get First Win

After last week's loss to Samford, Soph. QB Ben McLane told reporters he would bounce back and did he ever as Georgia State won their first game as an FBS school in a 32-15 victory over Chattanooga. McLane threw for 332 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Panthers after starting HB Gerald Howse missed much of the game with an apparent leg injury. Offensive coordinator told reporters why he decided to air out the ball more this week.

"They[Chattanooga] were stacking the box against us daring us to pass so I pulled Ben aside and said lets air it out a little," said Fanko, "Sometimes you just have to get away from running the football and today was one of those days."

Chattanooga was able to get within two after returning a punt 79 yards for a TD but a failed 2-point conversion would prevent them from tying the game and that was as close as the Mocs would get. Junior HB Gerald Howse returned to the game late to give the Panthers a lift in the running game as he record two rushing TDs to help Georgia State pull away.

Tune in next week as Georgia State has its first road test of the season. The Panthers will be traveling to Morgantown to face West Virginia.
