Nebraska Edges Miami in Battle of Top-Tens

It was the most talked about game of the week and it did not disappoint. Nebraska was able to establish the run early thanks to another monster game from HB Ameer Abdullah but the Huskers only managed 3 points in the 1st stanza. Late in the 1st quarter in a 3-3 game, Malcom Lewis put the Canes in front on an electrifying 102 yard kickoff return. With Nebraska leading 14-13 the two teams went to the locker-room.

In the 3rd quarter Miami took control as their defense was able to stop Nebraska on 3 separate occasions. 2 TDs by the Miami offense would put the Canes up 26-14 going into the 4th. As the 4th began Sophomore QB Tommy Armstrong Jr had the Huskers knocking on the door on a 3rd down from the 13. Armstrong found All-American wideout Kenny Bell at the front pylon for the score. Bell's TD would be reviewed and proven a catch.

Miami would take over with a chance to ice the game but Nebraska's defense stood tall and got the stop it's offense needed. Down 26-21 with less than 5 minutes to go Armstrong led the Huskers down the field and into the redzone once again. About to be sacked on 3rd down Armstrong came through and found his tight end across the middle for the score and the lead. With the game hanging in the balance and Miami only needed a field goal to win, Senior SS Harvey Jackson made what would be the biggest play picking off Ryan Williams and ending the Canes chances.
