Lions' Rally Falls Short, Turnovers Doom Detroit in loss to 49ers

This game will not be forgotten for a while as the Lions and the 49ers combined for 111 points on Sunday night. Although the scoreboard was lit up throughout the night it was the 49ers ball-hawking defense that won the day as they forced 7 Detroit turnovers, 6 interceptions.

Detroit QB Matthew Stafford struggled mightily, throwing 4 interception, 2 of which were returned for 49ers touchdowns, before getting pulled by Coach Fanko in favor of back-up Shaun Hill. Shaun Hill played a fine game in relief throwing 4 TDs but a late interception would prove to be costly as it led to a David Akers winning field-goal with 49 second remaining. When asked about the status of Matthew Stafford for next week's game in Tennessee Coach Fanko replied, "He's our QB and he will remain our QB. Shaun played a great game when asked to come in and I'm proud of him but Matt wasn't the only one who struggled out their tonight". So it appears that there is no QB controversy in Detroit for now we shall see how Matthew Stafford responds next week after this horrid performance.
