Five Teams To Run The Spread With: NCAA '14 Stuck
Posted on July 16, 2013 at 07:30 AM.

Perhaps the best thing about NCAA '14 is that every play works the way its supposed to. College football is synonymous with opening up the playbook, and getting it to your playmakers. This weekend, I got a little time to sit down and try out a bunch of spread option teams - perhaps the most exciting style of football there is.

5. Toledo

Toledo is actually a lot of fun to play with this year. Maybe it's because they have a dynamic playmaker in Terrence Owens, a guy who can beat you with the pass or on the run. They are the cream of the crop in the MAC, and can easily help put your coach over the top in terms of climbing the career ladder.

4. Washington State

There's something really enjoyable at just flinging the ball around with reckless abandon. Mike Leach's unorthodox style of spread offense lets you do just that. If you're the kind of player who loves to develop QB's and WR's, Washington State might be the team for you.

3. West Virginia

It's not quite the same without Geno Smith to sling the ball around, but West Virginia will always be the true king of spreading the ball out through the air. They still have Andrew Buie at half-back, and he can put up points in a hurry, especially in this offense.

2. Clemson

Clemson has become well known for its ability to recruit athletes all over the field. They have a lot of high ceiling guys like Sammy Watkins to chuck the ball to, and Tajh Boyd is one of the early favorites to win the Heisman. Not to mention, playing in Death Valley with that kind of offense is sure to create a ton of noise.

1. Oregon

You didn't see this one coming, right? If offense is your thing, than there isn't a better team to run with than Oregon. For Oregon, it will always be more about the run than the pass, but with Mariota back at QB, they figure to be able to pass the ball a lot to. Speed is in abundance with Thomas in the backfield, so don't be afraid to run plays that move horizontally before they go vertical.

I thought about it. With Gus back in charge, they'll be a lot of fun to watch.

Are these a top 5 or just a pick 5? Either way, you've got Oregon but no mention of the Aggies or the Buckeyes running the spread!!! Football blasphemy! LoL

I'd say Northern Illinois with Jordan Lynch. Id take Lynch and the Huskies over owens and toledo

I thought about Northern Illinois as well. My objective with this list was to get people to try some new teams, and seeing as I couldn't get myself to leave out Oregon, I had to ignore some of the bigger guns in Texas A&M, OSU, etc.
