NBA 2k16 STINKS...but I keep playing it
Posted on February 7, 2016 at 10:34 PM.
Only because there is nothing better....which stinks for gamers like me who are also very big basketball fans.

Sooooooooo many flaws in the game, and cheesing has all but taken over. Even now, I see people I play with who don't think they are cheesing starting to adapt to the game to exploit the flaws and start doing the same thing over and over again because it is what works best. I hate it. I don't want to be a cheeser, but NBA 2k16 basically forces you to be a cheeser if you want to be successful online. It isn't fun...except for a few games here and there that are realistic and competitive.

Don't even get me started on the horrible animations that seem 'smooth', but just cause massive hiccups in the game play, usually ruining any momentum or advantage.

I can't say I wasted my money buying this game...but at this point, I am quite sure I will never purchase another 2k game in my life. The Spike Lee story didn't help either...I'm a white dude with a black twin sister, wtf?

Seriously this EA boycott with basketball and mostly 2k fans needs to stop... NBA Live 16 is the most underrated game I've played in a LONG time. And most people are only judging it by the DEMO! Some people are forcing theirselves to settle for something broken out of fear of change. 2k isn't going anywhere for awhile so you caneed at least try something different. The fact I only played three games of 2k16 to decide to sell it in favor for live 16 says alot... No online the game is unplayable.

I might give it a shot. I chose purely off the reviews, but I might have a different opinion than most. Thanks for the input

No problem. The game may not be for everyone but normally when people find faults in 2k and can barely get into it they usually end up liking live.

Why the low reviews then? Is it purely because of the graphics? I bet that 2k has a better game, but Live simply has fewer bugs and minor flaws. The main reason for my frustration with 2k is how many tiny little details they can't seem to fix...it's possible they don't even notice these flaws and just ignore them because they don't realize they are there.

I just tried to play the 3 point and then dunk contest in all star weekend, only to have the dunk contest get simulated for whatever reason (beyond my control). Not only that, my 97 3pt shooting point guard just missed his first 8 shots in the 3 point contest, even though my releases were all right on the line...this game sucks. I'm starting to hate basketball because of this stupid video game.

I just did the 3 point contest again...made 4 of my first 5, thought things were gonna go ok...then I missed 9 of my next 10. Sorry 2k, I'm done. You will never get another dime from me because of your shabby quality. Please just go bankrupt now and save everyone the time.

The more I play this game the more I wish we had a viable alternative. The bogus shot blocks on dunk attempts, tipped/deflected passes, reach ins, the no call 3 second violationm A.I. defenders not closing out on shooters etc.

phade3 you're right on, but that's not even close to the extent of the malfunctions of this game. Loading times, lag outs, server problems, and many others also compliment the shabby quality of the game with a crappy online experience...and things like an inability to see a friends trophies on a friends court (you ALWAYS just see your own, no matter whos court you are on) and the custom shoes problem just make me not even want to bother with those things.

Point guards are too fast, centers are too slow, if you get double teamed for long enough, you AUTOMATICALLY go into a jump ball (if the ball isn't stolen without a foul ever being called), and my biggest pet peeve is when I am running without the ball and when someone passes it to me, the PASS takes me so far away from where I want to go that it would have been better if the pass never came (you can credit that to a bad pass...well if that's the case, let the ball fly out of bounds so I can blame the blown play on a bad pass and not on my position on the floor), or when the receiver of the pass just STOPS on a fast break, completely ruining the chance in transition.

Now, with AI, I could take a dump, call it a defender, and it would be smarter than these morons that I have to deal with in mygm and mycareer. WHY THE HELL DOES THE BASELINE DEFENDER ALWAYS LEAVE THEIR MAN WIDE OPEN IN THE CORNER JUST BECAUSE A SCREEN IS SET 20 FEET AWAY!??!?!??! It's ridiculously unrealistic. When I pass to an open teammate, they just hold on to the ball instead of shooting, when I get in position to score, they wait too long to pass me the ball, allowing the defender to get in place. When there are only a few seconds left, they still just pass the ball into the point guard 3 feet away from the inbound spot, preventing any chance at a quick basket (unless it's curry, who drained an 80 footer...prolly only because I was winning).

HOW MANY DUNKS CAN WE MISS!?!?! Alley oops aren't even worth trying, and it doesn't matter if it is a contested dunk or a wide open dunk, i miss at least 1 a game. And even if it is contested, fouls are never called unless you either make the dunk or go into a stupid looking lay-up animation. I never see a foul get called when someone misses a dunk...but that can be the only thing that I can think of that would cause so many missed dunks.

NBA 2k16 SUCKS!

I'd like to point out the skills challenge in the all-star game weekend this year...did you see Anthony-Towns (a big man) running step for step with the ball down the court along side Isaiah Thomas (a point guard)? In NBA 2k16, Anthony-Towns has a speed attribute of 70, Thomas has a speed attribute of 87 (and a 94 acceleration)...so how was Anthony-Towns able to run right along side Thomas? Either Thomas speed is too high, or Anthony-Towns (and ALL the big men in this game) are too slow. Not only that, there should be a separate speed attribute for running with and without the ball...but of course, 2k won't do anything to actually make the game more realistic, they'll prolly keep 2k17 the exact same in terms of big men being too slow compared to point guards.

NBA 2k16 SUCKS!

And did anyone see Kevin Hart beat Green in the 3pt contest? Loved it!
