Week 6: AA Portland (May 14 to May 20)
Scouting Report, May 16, 2009.

"I think I finally came up with a player he compares best to, Sean Burroughs. He can't run all that fast and all he hits are singles, something you don't want out of a corner outfielder. It might be to early to what a 19-year old might be in the future, but he has shown practically zero power since the first series I saw him."

-Garald Martin, scout, Minnesota Twins.

Week 5 - AA Portland "A Year Older."

Portland - There weren't any presents or cakes at the stadium yesterday. Wine bottles? Maybe. For Rob Knowles, he gave himself a present in the form of a memorable performance against the New Britain Rock Cats.

In his first at-bat, Knowles hit a howitzer shot down the left field line and easily reached second while driving in the game's first run. He topped his performance with a couple of singles, one of them driving in the game-tying ... Read More

For those following my RTTS career through the blog, I have some disappointing news. Apparently I ran into a glitch in mine and I probably will start a new one. I'm really disappointed at what happened, but whatever. It won't stop me from enjoying this game.

I keeping that save file, but like I said, I'm starting a new one. Version 2 will be up and running shortly.

From the Sandlot to Cooperstown - An opportunity (Week 4 AA 2009)

Norwich - Sometimes in baseball, it's best when things don't go according to plan. After last night's game, manager Arnie Beyeler and Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein had to alter their plans for easing one of their young upcoming prospects. Chris Carter, the regular left fielder for the Sea Dogs, suffered a knee sprain late in the game. Rob Knowles, who has been the primary backup for the Sea Dogs, will be starting ... Read More

Week 3 - AA Portland (From April 23 to 29)

BLOG Exclusive Journal:
I don't know whether I should consider this week even decent. Yes, I hit my first home run of the season, that's the good news. The bad news? Well, everything else except the double I hit the next game traveled at most a whopping 90 feet. I need to hit the gym or eat more steak.

Week 2 - AA Portland, Player of the Week. (From April 16 to April 22)

I was notified by my agent that I had earned player of the week honors from Baseball America based on my performance at the plate this week. There's certainly more for me to talk about this week, such as my four hit game.

Outfielder Knowles a Prospect to Keep an Eye on
Boston Herald
March 26, 2009

Fort Myers - It's a little past noon in Florida and with opening day around the corner, the final cuts are going to be made. We have taken a look at some of the Red Sox prospects that have participated in spring so far, but we now look at an outfield prospect entering his first full season in his professional career. Taken in the fifth round of last year's amateur draft, Knowles quickly turned ... Read More

"Another Week, Same Results"
March 10, 2009

I thought the batting session with Mags went great on Tuesday. Again, I didn't play that game so I took extra batting practice. I don't think I'll make the big league club, but we'll see what plans they have for me. I don't think I've played well enough this spring.

Blurb in the Boston Herald:
March 4, 2009

Fort Myers, FL - One week into spring training exhibition games and already there are rumblings from fans about the Red Sox sub-par offensive performance during the spring. One of the Red Sox prospects invited in the spring, outfielder Rob Knowles, is one of the players who have had a rough start to spring.
