The Atlanta Hawks are another top team, so I should be able to contain them as well. Thing is: They pose a huge match-up problem for me. Joe Johnson is a 6'7'' guard and even though slightly injured a superstar. Crawford and Evans are 6'5" each - a far cry from my 6'3" Williams and especially my subs of Watson and Price.
So I try to rotate a bit, put Kirilenko on Johnson and set the other defenders on the 1-3 spots according to size.
What can I say - it might even have worked, hadn't I rushed my offense into their waiting arms. The number of intercepted passes where previously a clear lane loomed as well as swatted balls of Jazz men driving to the hoop was insane. The 16 TOs don't reflect it properly - add their 11 blocks to it.
On top of it DWill struggled from the field, especially in the second quarter, finishing with 25 pts and a great 16 ast, but on 9-25 shooting (7-7 fts).
Hayward 14, 4 rebs
Millsap 14, 9 rebs
Jefferson 12, 11 rebs
Kirilenko 10, 4 rebs
Bell, 10 pts, 2 rebs
added to a balanced attack, but Atlanta's Jamaal Crawford's 32 (on 14-35 shooting), and especially J. Johnson's 24pts (10-19, 4-4 on 3-pointers) put a lid on my second half surge that brought me to within 5.
