Suffer!
Posted on November 7, 2010 at 09:32 AM.
The loss vs. the Lakers made the Jazz 9-8 - much in danger of going back to the .500 mark. Next up are the Los Angeles Clippers, whose dynamic duo of Griffin and Kaman gave me a really hard time and my fifth loss earlier in the month.

And they came out of the gates blazing again! Within 8 minutes in the first quarter they had a sixteen point lead while their basket looked nailed shut for me. Kaman and Griffin weren't that much of a problem this time around (my strategy was to have the weakside wingman, Kirilenko most the time, sink towards to the basket for some serious helpside defense), but Gordon stepped up big time and looked like he could score at will.

Disgusted with my own game I resignated and decided to just play the game out and be patient with it.

Oh well, the 2nd quarter then totally turned around the game - holding the Clippers to what probably is a season-low 8 point quarter, while scoring 27 myself.

With the sudden 54 : 42 halftime lead the punishment only started and my reserves ( Ronnie Price had complained about not playing and I gave him a chance this game and he responded with 16 points on 7-11 shooting) built the lead to 30 pts. With Williams (36 mins) and Jefferson (31 mins) being the only starters over 30 minutes of playtime the game ended with my first real blowout 121 : 101.

Take this Clippers!

Williams 27, 11 ast
Jefferson 22, 7 reb
Price 16
Hayward 16, 2 blk
Kirilenko 11, 3 reb, 2 ast, 2 blk
Miles 8, 3 reb, 3 ast
Millsap 8, 6 reb
Fesenko 6, 8 reb, 2 ast

10-8
