Need a better NCAA game
Posted on October 31, 2011 at 02:35 PM.
Either they need to spend more time to make the games or need a better director to lead the program because the status quo isnt cutting it.

It's actually a pretty good game...I mean the AI can't react like a human would every single play. The do need to fix the blocking a bit and some of the small issues like receivers forgetting to look up for the ball. But if it's a game it won't be perfect. NCAA is a great game but like all games it is what you make of it..

It may have some improvements but look at the flaws, incoming recruit tendencies that make them do or not do what they are suppose to be doing. Secondary standing like statues and not covering. Offensive line letting d lineman thru unblocked because they get confused who to block.

I can't stand the super linebackers, corners, and safetys that the computer has while I have a crap secondary that allows 300 yards passing although I have all DBs in the 90s.

You do understand that O Linemen miss alot of blocks because they get confused about who to block. That happens in real life. Incoming Recruits that's completely up to the coach on how to use those players.

And the secondary only stands around on option plays and that's a glitch the patch never really fixed.

No offense but if you are going to make complaints please understand the true game first and then make your comparisons. Alabama defense is based of confusing the o line it's up to the QB to make a quick decision before he gets sacked.

@Sparty
The only things I truly have a problem with is the super linebackers. I real life I rarely see a LB making a leaping interception like they do in this game that's unrealistic. And in all honesty I see more drops from Linebackers than from any position on the field. But as far as allowing 300 yards passing what kind of defense do you run. I have only allowed 200 yards passing in any game against the CPU and thats on heisman. Zone is suspect but I have found that if you learn the Nickel defense it's the best against teams that like to run the spread.

How do you get confused if you have 3 or 4 guys rushing and you have 5 blockers? I do understand the offensive line and if the O line guy just stands there looking at the clouds thats a problem.

Blitz packages don't come spread out where each guy can match up to the next. If you are getting blitzed and a guy is getting through that's probably because they are overloading a side.

You only have 5 O-Linemen, if you send your DE, DL, and Lineback all to one side then someone isn't going to get blocked. In real life the O Line is taught to pick out the biggest threat in their area pending on the defensive formation.
If you watch football (which I am sure you do) you will see the O Line walking up to the line of scrimmage pointing out their blocking assignment. But the problem is if a linebacker or a safety is sent and nobody calls it out they probably won't get picked up. Watch the game tonight you will see it.

Just because you see 3 or 4 down linemen doesn't mean those are the only one's trying to get the QB. Case in point the Eagles. Everybody knew their O line was suspect so they overloaded sides to get to Vick faster. Which leaves a tackle, guard, maybe a tight end, and a Running back to block. Not to many running backs have great awareness when picking up the blitz so you have to account for that. When I get sacked more than three times, I usually just shorten my drops. Instead of dropping back 5 steps I take 3 steps. I read the defense before the snap and still get yards.

When teams blitz that opens up alot for the offense to work with. But if you can't see it before it happens or if you can't read defenses, well you will be on your back more often than not.

By the way this isn't an attack on your post in any way..so please don't get offended.

for a player they have to notice the blitz which isnt that hard. But what I get annoyed about is if i have 5 lineman and 1 or 2 TEs and there is no blitz and one guy goes through because the o line is holding 1 man instead of holding the line

I mean defenses have learn how to hide it so well its just as easy to miss as it is to catch. When I coached football I taught my safeties (particularly the Strong Safeties) to move up behind the linebackers or out to the side to make it look like we were blitzing. He would move up maybe 5 yards every few plays sometimes he would stay in position. That threw off the entire defensive look so the offense never knew what we were doing.

Now I will say that they don't hold blocks for too long in this game but that can be worked around. Blocking assignments at times are screwed up my fullback shouldn't reach the third level to block when I haven't made it past the line of scrimmage. But all these can worked around.

The gameplay is good enough....the atmosphere is what kills the replay value. Like many people have mentioned, go to a college game or watch a game on tv....then play NCAA 12.

I go to loads of alabama games and sometimes to the georgia dome and let me say this, the game is so far off on the atmosphere. In the game I can barely hear boos or loud cheers. It sounds all muffled and quiet. When im at the games its so loud it hurts my ears. I have an ear radio and most the time i cant hear it over the yelling. The game is so far off.

In the game i cant go a kick off on either side without some stupid clipping call being called. Ive never seen clipping called so many times in my life. Where is the block in the back, unessessary rougheness for spearing and loads of other penalties? This series needs a miracle of improvements.

I can admit that the atmosphere is lacking a bit. I remember in past games that's what truly set this game apart but the audio during games is trash. The crowd roars or noise just fades in and out and you would expect at this point that having a dynamic crowd was a must for all games. Not so much with NCAA. Yea the intro's are cool but the over all game experience is lacking quite a bit.

1) The LBs and DBs play psychic coverage way too often. The DBs, partly due to overtly high speed, acceleration, pursuit and play recognition for average DBs and LBs, mirror your recievers. When is the last time you saw a LB jump 1-3 yards laterally to bat down a pass when he is at a stand still?
You do understand 1 - 3 yards really isn't that far. And they are in a sense suppose to mirror your receiver when they play zone or man. Zone is just man coverage but restricted to certain parts of the field pending on position. They don't have psychic coverage you are not use to the DB's and LB's playing zone and they actually move within their zone

) This also applies to DTs. You should rarely if ever see a DL chase down a speed RB from behind. Also, I hate that ******** animation where they COMPLETELY shrug off 2 OLs at once with no effort right when you get by them.
Yea I can agree with that but I have not seen a DT shake off 2 O Linemen in this game yet.

3) Pushing turbo should not result in: A)everyone else suddenly running or DL shedding their blocks automatically.
While I agree, you shouldn't be pushing turbo as soon as the ball is handed off. Patience hitting the hole doesn't envolve hitting your top speed immediately after the handoff. But I can agree O Linemen don't hold their block long enough or they miss quiet a few blocks in this game. Like I said there is no reason a Guard should be going to block on the third level before securing the DE or Linebacker.

4) The WR's don't put enough effort out. U rarely see a WR and DB fighting for position.
That was to actually avoid people from complaining about pass interference. Yea, I know it's not called often enough but if they actually fought for position you could possibly call P.I. on every play.

5)Last but not least, the QB's can only really throw bullets or lobs. Not realistic. They should be able to throw passes with just enough arc on them to get them over the hands of defenders but not be lobs
If you create a QB in Road to Glory you will be able to see a difference in this year and last year. This year you can basically put the ball where you want to..if you push the right stick right the ball will drift to the right of the receiver same with the left. This also goes for under and over throws.

Try it out.
