MyCareer Recap

Two weeks to go for the launch of NBA 2K17. Recently, we received news about MyCareer. In this article, we will resume all the new stuff that we know by now:
• Starting with the player creation, the archetypes are back for NBA 2K17. Your body customization really matters this year: the wingspan, the height and even the weight will affect your attributes;
• Each archetype has his own upgradable badges. That means you can only upgrade that five badges to the gold level and the others will stay in the bronze level. There is also a Hall of Fame badge that makes each player’s specialty being boosted;

Now, about the story. It’s completely different of NBA 2K16. This year the focus is back on the court to the game of basketball. The principal concept is Dynamic Duo:
• This Dynamic Duo, called “Orange Juice”, will be completed by Justice Young, interpreted by Michael B. Jordan. This character will encourage you to work hard in your game, so that you can become one of the greatest;
• What is “Orange Juice”? “Orange Juice” is the chemistry between these two players (your MyPlayer and Justice). Once you get this connection, you will be able to control Justice on the court: tell him what to do or even control him entirely;
• Other important addition is Denver Levins. He’s an undrafted that was in Europe and in the D-League. Since he’s not such talented as you are, he’s happy to be in your life. Denver is the guy that gives you fun along the story and he’s someone that you can count on to relax when you are under pressure.

Now about the off-days. This year in 2K you can choose between practice, connections and endorsements, but you can do more than one activity in one off-day.
• You can always go to the practice gym, earning VC with an appearance for an endorsement company or do something with NBA stars. As you connect with these stars, you can earn fans and unlock other’s connections.
• For NBA 2K17, there is an improved text messaging interaction. The conversations are interactive and you decide what to say and the track of the conversation.
• Endorsements have a more realistic system that will show you a little bit of how it’s like for a NBA star to decide who he wants to be associated to. The first change is in the shoe deals. In NBA 2K17 you make this choice at the beginning of your career. Each contract offers different benefits, so make sure you choose wisely. Your position in the draft plays a big role in the benefits of the contract.
• The Live Practice system has been expanded. With this expansion, there is a new feature called Doin’ Work. When the Doin’ Work meter is filled up, you will earn additional upgrade slots. Doin’ Work is available when you are at a Team Practice, making shots in the practice gym with Justice, or just shooting around in MyCourt. In Live Practice, at Gatorade Reaction, now you can do a ladder agility drill, bench press, squats and free weights.

Now about MyCourt. In NBA 2K17 you can unlock three different courts, all three full customizable. MyCourt is connected to the story, as we have story scenes taking place there. New to MyCourt are the MyCourt visitors. Now, you can receive NBA stars and your friends in your court, for Doin’ Work or play 1 on 1.

I am intrigued to see how the dynamic duo/oranje juice plays out. In the Show I have no interest in RTTS but in 2K my main interest is in the MyCareer story. As great a job as SanDiegoStudio does with the Show, 2K blows away RTTS when comparing the two. I will most likely wait until mid-November to pick up 2K17 though.

Loving My Career already - sounds a little more interactive and I like the fact that your 24 hours isn't spent doing one thing, now you can do two things in a day that's pretty awesome
