[DeKalb] QB M. Quinn took Player of the Game after an outstanding performance. The UMass Minutemen entered this week ranked #24 after a double OT win against Vandy. One thing was certain, this game in no way mirrored that game. Under the passing attack of Quinn, UMass had an explosive second quarter in which Quinn threw 3 of his 4 TD passes. He ended the day with 322 yards through the air. Later in the game the NIU Huskies did close the gap to within a score, but Quinn came back slinging and threw for his fourth TD pass. With less than 2 minutes remaining, SS Thellen returned an interception for a score putting any comeback hopes to rest.

Coach Wilson praised Quinn after the game. "Quinn knows I believe in him. He knows that I don't look at him as a back up that I have no choice to play. This is his team! This is why there are depth charts in place. No matter who goes down, all of my players are prepared."

The Minutemen travel to Akron next on what appears to be quite a simple task. Akron's record currently resides at 2-8.
