[Foxboro] Controversy! At this moment Coach Wilson finds himself right in the midst of it after a controversial call for a 2 point conversion in the second quarter to put UMass up 36-14 right before the half. As the fans cheered as both teams went in for the half, all cameras queued in on Bowling Greens head coach Dave Clawson's grimacing stare over at UMass's head coach. "I'm in shock right now! We coach these kids and prepare them for life. What message was coach Wilson trying to put in his kids head by going for a 2 point conversion? I don't take kindly to disrespect. Now I gotta go deal with my team before this turns into something nasty.

When coach Wilson was questioned about it during post game press conference, he attempted to explain. "It was a confusing point for myself. Birt had just intercepted a pass and took it in for the score. My extra point team was heading onto the field when the referees called for a challenge of the play to see if the ball touched the ground before he caught it. After the play stood, I forgot we scored, so I sent my offense out. Not until we scored had I realized that I just converted a 2 point conversion. I was embarrassed and didn't intend to create any situation. I apologize to the college football world for that incident."

Later in the fourth quarter, QB Pagel was injured on a play that was flagged for a late hit. Both benches emptied, but were refrained before any type of scuffle broke out. "Maybe it was payback," stated Wilson. "But if it was, it shows that that program at Bowling Green has total disrespect for the well being of my players, or the players of any other team!" Both teams should expect to hear from the NCAA on the incidents that took place. No punishments are expected to be handed out. Pagel did capture the Player of the Game award as he went 17-20, 244 yards, and 4 touchdowns before the hit. He suffered a broken collarbone and is expected to miss 12 weeks. His season may be over.

Next week UMass travels to Vanderbilt in hopes of continuing their undefeated season as it still stands today.
