520racer’s Alternate F1 universe The Reboot: 1998 season
First, the bad news, there was significant issues with the original planned 1997 season and the way it was conducted, I only managed to ran the first two races before I found out a significant issue regarding the number of teams I have which was originally set to 19 teams and the maximum number of teams the game itself could take at one time. I have too many teams on the original entry list and the max number of teams that the game could run was capped at 14. I was originally planning to split the teams into two separate files, but then the pain of switching files was too much for me to handle over time. So, what I have decided to do now is essentially cancel the 1997 season after the first two races were run under the old method and trimmed down the entry list for 1998 to 13 teams, which still gives me a full 26-car grid without the need of removing any cars after qualifying. It required some thinking on my part to decide which of the extra teams get the axe. Anyways, the first step was to fire the drivers that didn’t appear in the game Grand Prix World, which was based on the real-life 1998 season anyway and then work my way from there. So, here are the twelve drivers from the original 97 entry list that didn’t make the cut this time around.
Gerhard Berger
Pedro Lamy
Greg Moore
Tarso Marques
Gianni Morbidelli
Norberto Fontana
Nicola Larini
Vincenzo Sospiri
Ukyo Katayama
Kenny Brack
Tom Kristensen
Pedro De la Rosa
From there, I have removed the following six teams from the original 1997 entry list
DAMS
Jordan
Forti
Stefan GP
Volvo
Prost
Among these teams above, removing Jordan was the toughest one to swallow, with the prost team a close second.
So, here’s the brand-new entry list for the 1998 season, thankfully I had saved the prior individual files beforehand so it was a mostly pain free process of transferring the old stuff to the new file that I am using now along with a few minor additions being made as a response to so many driver seats being removed. Also, the driver, engine and other stats remained the same from the 1997 files.
