Soundwave, very Gen 1
This is such a close representation of the original generation one Soundwave.
I can vividly recall when the cartoon first aired on Australian tv in 1984. It was a Saturday morning, my brother, sister and I were watching a program called The Early Bird Show which played lots of cool cartoons. When they announced a new cartoon with robots was coming on I was intrigued. Fair enough I thought, I am 9 years old, robots sound like my idea for a good cartoon.
From the moment the cartoon started I was in awe. Soundwave was in that first episode and the very first time he spoke with his digitised, vocoded voice, I was in love. Soon as I heard it I spun around to my brother and said 'did you hear that!?' His voice just sounded like way a robot should talk.
Other kids may have banged on about the upstart bravery of Bumblebee, or the heroic leadership of Optimus or a few even the size of Megatrons arm cannon (which is very cool btw) but to me, nothing matched the mesmerising eloquence of Soundwaves voice!
