So, I've played a few games post-patch now but this is only my opinion and I'm still not sure if my recent successes with this game is due to my player being better from having accumulated skill points from a complete season 1 or from the patch but:
My thoughts are that if they made the floor general status a major thing of importance(not just to the PG position) the game would significantly be much easier for those not too fond of the play-calling system ran by the cpu playing PG(but not too overly significant where it's just a completely a freestyle type of play). Again, this is My Player mode...not Association mode. You're not supposed to be calling all the shots, especially from a rookie standpoint. There should be a bit of a struggle for touches and plays run specific to your player; being that they're just cracking the starting rotation as a newcomer. There are going to be people who play this game with the ego of wanting to be an immediate NBA superstar but Holy Christ...chill out! Players develop into stars...stars become recognized...and that's when coaching staffs and management starts considering their input(obviously, there are going to be people who disagree with this as well).
There also needs to be more of a variety in the type of plays called. I'm only getting like the same 3 plays on offense(I'm actually glad that I dont have to call plays on defense now and its been a dramatic help in improving my rebounding and steals since that's all I have to focus on).
The shooting percentages of teammates are still an issue as it was pre-patch. So, even with the new play-calling system it's sort of pointless if your teammates can't hit those wide open jumpers at a more consistent(I say consistent but not to the point of being automatic) rate.
I dont know what they did with the passing system but it seems like the ball is flying out of bounds more often such as when you see your teammates or opponents trying to catch an off-balance pass near the sidelines and they step over the line. It gets a bit frustrating when your teammate throws an errant pass to you and your person steps out of bound to try and bring it in(a turnover in either situation).
Rebounding, if anything; has been too easy post-patch(unrealistic in terms of the sheer number you can get but im not complaining). I remember barely getting 4 or 5 without trying(pre-patch) and if I did try, just 7 or so in full 12 minute quarters. Now I'm 18 games into season 2 and I'm averaging a triple double(23 triple doubles in my career so far) while leading the league in three categories(rebounding, assist, and steal-it used to only be neglecting one stat line for another. A simple form of deferment where if I wanted rebounds, I would have had less steals since my focus was to attack the boards not the passing lane. Not the case post-patch. I can do whatever I want and still get my rebounds). My numbers in steals and assists don't really surprise me that much since I'm maxed out in those stats but the rebounding sticks out when im only 6'3'' and I'm averaging 13 rpg. There's no sliders on my player mode so there's no option for adjusting for those who want a more realistic play from their game
It's a bit bias on my part to say I'm in favor of the patch since the game has gotten incredibly better for me and the PG position in terms of statistical output but hopefully, 2K can address the play-calling issues from the standpoint of other positions and improve the role of floor general. I mean, I guess they could just have the option of turning off play-calling but like I said before; this isn't association mode. You're not a coach; you're a player so buckle down and run the play(assuming they fix the faulty and repetitive play calls).

Great, insight on the post-patch. I do have to slightly disagree on the rebounding. I feel they have done a great job tweaking the rebounding; you feel better achieving something now, after you have boxed out your player and grab the rebound. I get over the back calls all the time now; the way it should be. Like i said everything else seems to be in tune with what i was doing, and trying to achieve within the game.

Wow I've been trying to get rid of it on my ps3 by deleting the online data but i think don't its working. Im a C and my guy is an athlete style who could throw down nasty dunks on even givin play but now they have me stuck on the top of the key granted im also a good shooter but wtf i cant score on the perimeter. And as far as the rebounding goes i went from a normal of 13 to 14 a game to havin a spike of 3 games goin 25 26 28 with my low being an 18 in the last 5 games but im not in favor of post patch so hopefully they do find a way to settle
