As soon as the companion app was available I jumped right into this again. I now have a set that I am pretty comfortable with. I still need to do my ten 20 year sims to validate them but so far these seem great. Only real question so far is DT. QB is as good as we are going to get for now. It's a catch-22. You either go a little higher to get a few more 90+ players but then get a ton of 80+ guys. Or reverse and get no 90+ players but tone down the 80+ guys. That's up to you. I have it balanced as best as I can tell right now. Thanks again to BleedGreen for holding down the fort here and giving us an excellent place to start. Saved me tons of time. Attached Ten 20 year sims data. The averages look outstanding and I am very happy with these results. As of now Madden 19 XP Sliders are locked in.

Here we are again with another year of Madden and another XP Slider thread. I realize it's early (we're still a month out from release) but I've been a part of the beta program and have been messing around with the XP Sliders and ratings. I also wanted to start this thread and get some feedback in the direction we should go this year. Here are some ideas below.

Standard Method: This is the route I normally take. I look at the base roster (which is very balanced this year guys) and I try to emulate it throughout the years. It's easier said then done but I have been able to find pretty good balance the last two years.

Higher Overall Method: This one will probably not be popular but I figured I'd throw it out there. With most OS'ers being sim minded I know we like to keep ratings in check. However with the ratings being more balanced this year (IE lower then usual) some may want to elevate the ratings a bit.

Lower Overall Method: This one is exactly how it sounds. I will attempt to lower the overalls across the board. This means that your highest rated guys would maybe be in the lower 90s but most likely in the high 80s. Maybe not as extreme as the 30 XP method that we were working with much later in the Madden 18 year. But definitely lower across the board.

Other: This is for something I haven't thought of. Let your imagination run wild on this one.

I'm going to leave up a poll. Please vote and let me know what you guys would like to see. If it's the other method please be detailed on what kind of things you want. I'm not necessarily gonna be able to do everything because it would take way too much time. But I'll do my best to try to satisfy the community.

One other cool thing that I've noticed this year is how the progression system works. I won't get into specific details (I don't want to get in trouble) but with the scheme system it seems that there will be much less "cheating the system" when progressing players. This will obviously help in 32 man leagues. Not being able to upgrade traits, specific attributes, and specifically the development trait means that all your XP points will go to attributes specifically based on what scheme you want to run. This is a feature that I've been wanting in the game forever. I know we've talked about the CPU progressing their players based on scheme in years past and were always frustrated by the fact that they just upgraded based on what was cheapest. Resulting in many players being close to carbon copies of themselves. I truly think this new system will differentiate the players quite a bit. Especially when you get deeper in franchise.

That's all I have for now. Be sure to leave some feedback on what you'd like to see. And as soon as this game drops on August 2 I'll be all over the XP sliders trying to make a fun and realistic CFM experience for everybody. At least as far as progression goes.

I voted too soon lol. After thinking about it more the lower overall method sounds a bit better than the standard method.

Technically it shouldn't be a problem. I mean we're not going crazy, crazy low. So if what we shoot for is high 80s and maybe a few low 90 rated players as the top of the line players then that's not really too far off from what the standard draft class will produce. Usually the top guys are in the 81 to 84 range with 84 usually being more rare. At least that's how it was in the past. So we may be fine with just lowering the XP percentage and not even having to mess with draft class ratings. I hope that's how it will work because while it's super awesome that we can edit draft classes now actually having to go through it without some sort of global editor is going to be super tedious. And I wouldn't expect everyone to have to do that just so they can use these XP sliders. But obviously this is all still just thinking out loud and once the game comes out we'll really be able to dig in to this stuff.

With the way progression works this year I really don't think that players will jump huge amounts each year. We are talking every progression instance for player will result in an overall increase of 1. The XP involved in doing this has got to be crazy high because you're talking about increasing multiple attributes each time. So bottom line if you lower XP percentages and have a top rookie come out at 84 overall even if he plays to his potential and has superstar development that guy may only get to 88 or 89 overall theoretically. Again this is just thinking out loud.

As someone who is in the beta I think my vote was skewed in the direction of regular. I think once others get a look at the rosters and progression they may change their minds. But who knows, the beta felt pretty locked down compared to what I think might be in the release.
