I too would like to get some day 1 objective views of the graphics compared to 2K23 (we all know it’s gonna look better than 24) from people here who will be impartial.

I'll be impartial, BUT I'm getting the game on PC so I'm not sure how applicable my opinion will be to the console crowd. Even old gen PC 2K24 with 0 mods looked noticeably better than new gen on console.

Yeah I definitely don’t think PC won’t apply here since I’m sure it’s gonna look better than new gen consoles.

These new gen consoles honestly have been the most underwhelming of any console jump that I can remember. Not seeing the revolutionary graphics I thought I would.

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25

This comparison is idiotic. 2k16 pic you posted is ultra sharp, the 2k23 ones are a bit blurry and the 2k25 ones are ultra blurry, removing all the details.

So of course if you compare sharp pics of the past with ultra blurry pics of today, you'll prefer the sharp pics...

When you play it, the graphics are actually ultra sharp (like the 2k16 one but nothing like the others). Use good quality images in every comparison and you'll see how superior the 2k25 pic is, especially compared to 2k16.

If you mean video game graphics haven't been progressing significantly for a few years though, it's true, I agree with that. It's caused by diminishing returns.

I mean, here's that 2K16 screenshot with a 2K23 one of equal resolution (though I can't find a lossless screenshot), and I'd still take the older lighting any day of the week. I only intended to compare the overall aesthetics of old-gen vs. new-gen lighting.

Nah those are really representative of how the games look. 16 court lighting is simply more dazzling and warmer.

And the pics I posted are all YT screenshots so equally blurry.

I'm satisfied with the lighting, jersey physics, and textures in the game right now. Only big issue for me are the player body types.

That’s because this was the first 4K console generation. And with consoles tending to equal high end PC hardware 3 years prior to release, we’re basically using 2017 PCs to push 4K graphics. There’s just very little power left to drive any other graphical improvements. And that issue just compounds when you realize cross-gen games need to work on the Xbox Series S.

We’ll see how the “PS5 Pro” changes things, but if Xbox doesn’t release comparable hardware then we still won’t see a graphical leap on cross-gen games.
