There are tabs at the bottom for all of the other conferences.

Where does one find tabs in excel 2007? I remember them in 2003.

Ironhead 07-12-2008 10:56 PM

I have never worked with Excel 2007 but try this?

"They show by default, but if you click on the Office Button (top left round office icon) then click on Excel Options, then click Advanced on the left, scroll down until you see the heading Display Options for This workbook, you can toggle (check/uncheck) Show Sheet Tabs."

I should stop to follow this thread for a while as every time i read it i feel the urge of getting the game. My "problem" this year is that i'm right now living in a new apartment i bought close to the beach, mainly for holidays, and as it's a new buildings area, i'm afraid of ordering the game online from USA/Canada (only way to get it in Spain) using this new adress, as the postman might not be able to find it.

I'll be here until early August that i'll be back home for a week or two so... should I order it using this holidays adress to get it a few days after release, at the risk of the postman not being able to find me, or should i wait to order it when i get back home, that will mean to play it around 4 weeks after release, while reading all you enjoying it...

Life puts us on really tought situations and decissions to take :)

Ironhead 07-13-2008 11:33 AM

Alright, seems we are already past the initial hype stage so I'll be the alarmist. Some people are reporting having a lot of fun with the game but there is already a lot of trouble brewing.

First issue seems to be surrounding rosters. People with the game are reporting that editing rosters and equipment is causing the game to freeze and teams to start disappearing. These teams appear to be the ones near the end of the database (i.e. teams starting with the letter "W"). This is leading people to believe that by editing information the roster file gets to big and starts removing teams from the game to compensate.

Some people have reported issues with online dynasty as well with menus freezing and the game refusing to advance to the next week.

The kick/punt return coverage problems have been documented by Bill Abner already.

The defensive pass rush in the game seems to be practically non-existent and slider editing doesn't seem to be helping.

There have been issues where linebackers and defensive backs have been in position to make plays and have run away from the ball, or even worse, just completely stopped moving.

For more information all I can say is wade through the info over at OS.

Ksyrup 07-13-2008 11:59 AM

I just read a review/interview of the PS2 version, and it doesn't sound too bad. They added supersim and a couple of minor improvements elsewhere, in addition to some Wii-style "Family play" options. I might have to upgrade from 07 to 09 this year - the wife needs something to get me for my birthday in a month, and maybe by then we'll know if the PS2 version is really worth getting.

If anyone sees comments/reviews about the PS2 version once the game is released, please post here. Thanks.

Were you able to snag an early copy?

No - I passed on the opportunity because it meant going into a rough area of North Jersey to get it.

Eaglesfan27 07-13-2008 01:32 PM

FWIW, the main developer has posted many times on OS today. One of his posts say that they are going to attempt to expedite a patch that fixes the roster editing issues. They also want to fix multiple gameplay issues. Here is his post and he laters says that anything that he lists in the "muy importante" category is going to be patched if possible.

Here is the thread:

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...sponse-ea.html

Here is his first post on the matter:

Hey guys.

Just wanted to let you know there definitely are folks looking into the following gameplay issues - we will be able to let you know very soon if they are patch-able (and hopefully when):

Muy Importante
- DL pass rush
- CPU QB percentages
- DB "stand straight up" issue
- Kick / Punt Returns are too easy
- Players in pursuit often turn the wrong way (see LB's on swing passes?)

Will Investigate
- Delay CPU snapping a few seconds
- CPU deep ball
- Rocket catch
- More penalties
- Substitution sliders

As for the crashes and stats disappearing and roster editing stuff and the like...keep in contact with Adam (OMT) on their status.

I will respond to this thread as soon as I hear anything.

DeToxRox 07-13-2008 04:15 PM

Simmed a full season for stat reasons .. just some info (these stats include bowls)

Five QBs threw for 4000 + yards, the leader (Daniels) throwing for 4624
IRL last year Six QB's did, the leader (Harrell) throwing for 5705

Nine QB's threw for 40 + TD's, the leader (Daniels) throwing for 50 (only 2 QB's threw over 45 TDs)
IRL last year three QB's threw for 40+ TD's, the leader (Harrell) throwing for 48

No QB's threw 20 INT's, the leader threw 19
IRL last year 1 QB threw 20 INT, four threw 19

Seven RB's ran for 1500 + yards, the leader rushing for 1810
IRL last year 15 RB ran for 1500 + yards

Those are just a couple things I noticed. QB completion is really high though, as Abner pointed out.

DeToxRox 07-13-2008 04:52 PM

About to test out online play now. I am #11 Clemson vs #1 UGA.

Already the fact we're playing in a monsoon is a nice touch.

DeToxRox 07-13-2008 05:35 PM

Good to see people already know ways to cheat. All he did was put a guy in motion until he got behind the center then hot route him deep. So annoying

Don't worry. Logan and I won't need to do that to beat Colorado silly.

DeToxRox 07-13-2008 05:40 PM

I lost 49-32 to #1 UGA. It was 28-21 after the first half, when he started running no huddle, motioning the same WR behind center and hot routing him deep or for an out so no one could pick him up on coverage. Every single play.

That's why I've never gotten into the on-line play and am cautiously optimistic about the on-line dynasty league here. I figure most of us aren't idiots but we'll see.

DeToxRox 07-13-2008 06:17 PM

There was no lag fyi. It played any game vs the computer but there are only 1500 people online when I played.

This league will be fine. I mean, this board is for gamers that value realism over anything else.

Sun Tzu 07-13-2008 07:30 PM

Agreed. If somebody in the league starts motioning WR's behind center and hot routing them to exploit some weird bug, they will be booted faster than you can say "devine".

Galaxy 07-13-2008 07:35 PM

I never could figure out how to motion receivers in last year's game (I didn't know you could, unless it was included in the play).

That's why the FOFC games are a lot of fun.

Logan 07-13-2008 07:38 PM

You had to hold B I believe (360) which allows you to control someone other than the QB. Then you use the d-pad to move to your desired receiver, and if he is eligible to be put in motion, his circle will have an arrow pointing in the direction he can motion. Press in that direction and then hold B again to get back to the QB.

Sounds complicated but it's not...not sure if there's an easier way.

DeToxRox 07-13-2008 07:41 PM

I am toying with sliders. Kickoff power HAS to be at 100 for both, it helps minimize returns. That is the only concrete thing I have seen.

INTs have yet to be a concern. I throw them from time to time but they are only on ill advised throws.

All American seems really easy so far though, Heisman may have to be toyed with.

DeToxRox 07-13-2008 08:01 PM

Played six games today. Won 4, lost 2. One loss online. Basically, this game feels awesome. Very smooth. The running game is hard because you don't get that initial burst like previous versions, so you need a good lane, or be able to cut, then you crank up the speed and hit the hole.

Throwing the ball is easier now then last year, at least so far, which is something that needs to be tweaked with sliders. Returns are out of control unless kickoff power is jacked up, then it's about right as far as realisim is concerned.

The better players are noticable. I played as USC vs Florida, and Percy Harvin took a bubble screen to the house. He just burned past everyone, it was sick.

Anyway, those are the initial impressions. I plan on tinkering with sliders more soon.

kingnebwsu 07-13-2008 09:19 PM

Glad you got the game early man :)

I think we're about at the point for an official NCAA 09 impressions thread (boyz). It would not be good to keep this same thread going since we're 11 pages into it.

Reading OS is never good. Today's reading really put me on the fence of buying the game (and lean toward renting it for a long time). I'll probably end up buying...but damn if I wish there was a way I could do it without supporting EA. If only there was a used copy for sale at midnight tomorrow ;)

I reserved mine at Game Crazy today, though I am not at all happy about the roster issues on the PS 3 version. Hopefully that will be a top priority along with the DL and wrong way pursuit issues.

Yeah, he posted some interesting videos in his latest post. RB jukes out of bounds with no one nearby. Also, a LB just runs straight out of bounds after an interception with no one even close to him. I'm guessing he had an intelligence rating of zero or something.

I disagree, seeing as the game isn't out yet.

Usually there is a honeymoon period of around two to three weeks before you see the flood of criticism.

Galaxy 07-14-2008 05:54 PM

I wish it came out in hour or so at the local Wal-Mart. I'll be out of town until Wednesday evening.

DeToxRox 07-14-2008 06:10 PM

The quick call in dynasty mode when recruiting is a god send.

Groundhog 07-14-2008 06:14 PM

So, with it looking like EA gave Pasta the rosters (no one else can edit rosters without a crash, and "Pasta's" rosters contain apostrophes, which is impossible to do in-game), could they get in any trouble at all?

Logan 07-14-2008 06:27 PM

I wouldn't think so, they're not selling the rosters.

Eaglesfan27 07-14-2008 06:30 PM

The rumor is that Pasta actually took it from someone's locker who worked for EA (who presumably had it up for their own enjoyment while they tested.) They have denied giving it to him.

DeToxRox 07-14-2008 06:33 PM

I am testing Heisman out in my dynasty with Syracuse, as I play PSU. There is a huge talent disparity, so I'll play it out and report my findings.

You can hit quick call, select how long it'll last, and it points out all the info gained, rather then calling the normal way and trying each pitch. It saves so much time.

DeToxRox 07-14-2008 07:08 PM

I am getting murdered. It's 37-7 PSU with the 6 minutes to go in the third.

Groundhog 07-14-2008 07:16 PM

Still waiting for play-asia to list this title as "in stock", but I've put through my pre-order.

Once again I'm reminded of how insane video game prices are in Australia. New PS3/360 titles cost anywhere from $99-$120 for big releases (all EA games are $120), yet for me to buy this game off play-asia and get the fastest shipping of 1-3 days, it costs me less than $80AU.

DeToxRox 07-14-2008 07:28 PM

I was humbled 65-24 by Penn State. Not much to say other then talent makes a huge difference.

Stats:

QB Andrew Robinson: 21 - 38 for 188 yards, 1 TD - 4 INT
RB Curtis Brinkley: 28 carries for 137 yards, 1 TD
RB Curtis Brinkley: 8 carries for 63 yards, 1 TD
MLB Jake Flaherty: 9 tackles, 1 TFL

QB Daryll Clark: 18 for 22, 174 yards, 2 TD
QB Daryll Clark: 5 carries for 64 yards, 2 TD
WR Derrick Williams: 6 catches for 88 yards, 1 TD
LOLB Sean Lee: 11 tackles, 6 TFL

kingnebwsu 07-14-2008 07:28 PM

That's crazy man. You're committed though :)

I guess us Americans take for granted how plentiful & relatively cheap video games are compared to other parts of the world.

DeToxRox 07-14-2008 07:29 PM

DeToxRox 07-14-2008 08:38 PM

I honestly didn't notice it until the replay. As usual NCAA has it's flaws but for me personally, it has been the most fun I've played since 04. Once I find the right sliders, it will determine more, but so far so good.

Here are a couple of my favorite plays against these idiots online in NCAA 2008 (since I don't have 2009 yet... )

This was the gamewinner to preserve a 14-7 victory as time ran out in the 4th.

This was part of a 70-14 slaughter. The guy never changed his strategy (or play) even after 5 or 6 picks. Idiot! I normally wouldn't do the taunting thing that happens at the end, but the guy's cheesiness got the best of me.

kingnebwsu 07-15-2008 12:40 AM

Just finished my first "play now" game. I DL'ed Pasta's rosters, made no changes and thus far have been okay.

Ohio State crushed michigan 77-21. It felt good ;) The passing offenses for both teams were pretty much unstoppable.

Boeckman: 33-41, 413 yds, 7 TD's
Threet: 24-31, 315 yds, 2 TD's & 2 INT's

I had two pick-sixes...so glad to see that's changed... Hopefully this was a fluke.

I tweaked only a few sliders (mostly related to kicking distance, as the kick coverage is awful). I played on All-American.

I'll mess around with some more Campus Legend mode. I don't want to start a dynasty until I know my rosters won't ruin the saved game.

kingnebwsu 07-15-2008 02:43 AM

Just played an online game vs a fellow FOFC'er who is in the other online league.

It was an amazing game. The first quarter saw Kentucky (me) go 10 plays for 80 yards and a TD. North Carolina (him) responded with a 14 play, 80+ yard drive. It was 7-7 early on. I was held to a FG just before halftime and led 10-0.

I scored a TD halfway through the 3rd and was up 17-7. I knew the game was far from over.

He scored a TD early in the 4th to cut it to 17-14. I had my only three & out of the game and he got the ball back at midfield. He drove it to 1st & goal from the 2 yard line. He called a slant for his WR...but my DB stepped in front of it and picked it off. This resulted in a touchback.

I was able to milk the clock and drive the ball inside his 20 before settling for a FG...which I missed. Argh.

He had the ball left down by 3 with 1 timeout and :57 to play. First play he drops back in the pocket, pump fakes, and throws it to a WR on a fly pattern. I take control of the safety at the last second and pull down the miracle user pick. It was amazing. It was seriously the biggest INT I've ever had on a football game.

I was able to run the clock out and escape with a 17-14 win. Whew.

Anyway, the game was lots of fun though I know it needs some work in the slider department. It was the most fun I've had playing a sports game online in 5 years. Seriously.

Hopefully it isn't just a one-night stand and NCAA Football and I can have a more long-term, committed relationship ;)

You didn't see that cheerleader? I would have chased that too.

Not much discussion this morning. Good sign or bad sign? The Operation Sports boards have a lot of talk about 'Robo QB' still being in the game (i.e. a passing shootout with weak DB AI). Have also seen comments about too many interceptions and random freezing during games.

Here's the OS review. Seemed like he went a bit easy on the game judging from overall feedback thus far.

Well, let's see...

It's a Tuesday, so people are at work. It is 10:45am Eastern, 7:45am Pacific, so for half the country the stores aren't even open yet.

How can you even start to comment on the lack of discussion at this point??? It seems you are starting your strawman building pretty early.

Kodos 07-15-2008 10:05 AM

Yeah. I saw just two people from FOFC had the game last night on Xbox Live.

There's usually been more discussion by this point in time in similar past threads. I think it has more to do with the thought that there are a lot more people taking a wait-and-see attitude with this game this year than in past seasons. It's likely not good or bad, it's just that very few people in relation to past years are making the opening day plunge at a midnight release.

We'll see what happens as the day progresses.

Eaglesfan27 07-15-2008 10:14 AM

I'm too old to be picking it up at a midnight release when I have to be at work by 8 AM. I'll be picking it up at lunch and playing this evening. I probably won't post too many impressions until I have a chance to play a lot of games this weekend.

Comey 07-15-2008 10:34 AM

I have to say...I picked this up a bit ago (have the day off, as the boy I work with is not at summer school this week), and I'm really, really enjoying it. I'm in campus legend mode, currently working my way through the PIAA playoffs (PA State Playoffs)...and hoping to get noticed by scouts.

I'll get into a dynasty later...but this is a hell of a lot of fun. Very, very smooth...haven't seen a lot that would upset me. But, I don't get upset by much with this game. It's just fun, and I haven't owned it since 2005.

It's nice to get reacquainted.

Just to keep MBBF updated on my day...

Right now I'm typing at my desk, staring at a BB bag that contains the game. I normally leave around 5:15-5:30, but today I'm going to duck out early, 4 if I can pull it off, but probably 4:30. I will then take the 6 train to my apartment, at which time I will change and go to the gym. After the gym, I will make dinner, and consume it. By then, it will hopefully be no later than 7pm. I will then open the game and play...and keep playing until I go to sleep, probably around 12. I will then rest, wake up around 6:30 and hop on a train to Long Island for a meeting. I'll sleep on the train (especially needed if I remain playing past 12, which is a probability). I'll then attend said meeting until approximately 12pm, at which time I'll board a train in the opposite direction and return to the office. By 2pm, when I'm sitting around and ignoring work I have to do, I will come back here to post my thoughts, both pro and con, on this game.

Looking forward to seeing you then.

Dr. Sak 07-15-2008 12:09 PM

Logan I was going to tell you to skip the gym and play but umm...you need it buddy. ;)

Can't wait to hear what you think.

RedKingGold 07-15-2008 12:13 PM

I still want MBBF to explain how I'm a Nebraska Cornhusker fan.

I guess he just loves spouting his mouth off about stuff that he doesn't know about.

I thank my lucky stars every day that I have a well paying job with a 10 minute commute. More gaming time! :)

CraigSca 07-15-2008 12:16 PM

Yay, Maryland just lost to Temple, 24-17, at Maryland (AA level, 7 min quarters). Can you tell I stink? We had 6 interceptions in the game - two of them were pick 6's. Bleeh. I just downed interception sliders for both sides to see what will happen in the next game. Otherwise, it was a pretty fun game. We shall see, however, as I delve deeper.

As an aside, I'm so terrible in this game I have been unable to take advantage of the horrible return coverage. When I do, I think I'll just supersim it - no big deal.

Hmm, maybe it is that faulty/selective memory again. Here is the thread from last year, starting at midnight of release day. Not much in the way of game feedback before 10:45am Eastern, save a small blurb from Pumpy:

http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...+football+2008

And going back to check in 2006, it is pretty much the same scenario. One account of gameplay from Raiders Army before 10:45am Eastern.

http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...+football+2007

That strawman is looking a little lopsided.

Ksyrup 07-15-2008 12:26 PM

I seem to recall a lot of excitement last year about the ability to post videos and how that would enhance dynasties, but not so much about the game itself. I specifically recall an MJ4H thread calling someone out for not having started posting a dynasty and videos the morning of release. As I recall, anyway.

I am going to pick this up today. My first 360 football game. How do you download rosters. Is it as easy as College Hoops 2k8?

There's an interface in the game to download the rosters. It's very quick.

Eaglesfan27 07-15-2008 12:45 PM

So, I went and picked it up during lunch and the gamestop was offering to add LSU photos to the box "to make Darren McFadden go away." It was very glossy and professional looking and they looked pissed when I asked if they had any USC covers instead ;)

Kodos 07-15-2008 12:49 PM

I'm guessing an IU cover will be tougher still to come by.

Eaglesfan27 07-15-2008 12:51 PM

An important post from the developer on OS. Apparently, Pasta's file (he's taken his file down) and others who had used his file were causing issues after being corrupted. Here is the workaround as posted by the developer. He later clarified that you must save the file after downloading:

We think we have a workaround for the roster issues until the patch.

After downloading a roster from the EA Locker, immediately reboot your console to clear the memory. Then when you load the roster file you should be ok with it.

You will still corrupt the roster if you make edits to lots of different teams, so back up your files often. I suggest multiple saves instead of saving over the old file. You should be OK making edits to all the players on one or two teams.

Bigsmooth 07-15-2008 01:00 PM

Anybody had luck getting on to the EA Servers? I've been trying for about 3 hours, nothing.

Kodos 07-15-2008 01:24 PM

They weren't expecting anyone to get the game.

Logan 07-15-2008 01:44 PM

Can someone tell me what exactly is the "EA locker" and how do I get there?

Still not home from work yet but I'm an XBL noob so I have no clue how to navigate the thing. Thanks.

korme 07-15-2008 01:52 PM

I went to Meijer last night and stood with about 15 people - I was lucky, only 4 of us wanted the PS3 version.

When they finally brought the games out, it was a very sloppy procedure and had us bouncing aisle to aisle. It was nerve racking, but I got the game. My roomate and I proceeded to play until 9:30 AM on a double dynasty.

It is fun.

korme 07-15-2008 02:11 PM

I'm in the EA Locker, and all I see is that I can download rosters that my online friends have... which can't be right. I don't think any of these friends even have the game yet...

So how do I d/l the real rosters?

KWhit 07-15-2008 03:01 PM

You can get them here:

Well, the instructions on how to get them anyway.

http://freencaa09rosters.com/

kingnebwsu 07-15-2008 03:22 PM

So I downloaded Pasta's rosters last night. I played a few games without a problem. I tried to play again today and the game was freezing like crazy. I deleted his rosters and the game still kept freezing. I then deleted all of my highlights (which had players from the created rosters) and it was fine. I played some mini-games no problem.

I guess I'll try the rosters listed above. I'm really nervous about starting a dynasty with named rosters until I know they're all good. I just don't want a fatal error 1-3 years into my dynasty.

korme 07-15-2008 03:45 PM

All right... starting to get pissed off... after that binge playing last night with no problems, the game has froze on me 3 times in the past 20 minutes.

korme 07-15-2008 03:46 PM

And btw, I haven't downloaded any rosters.

Kodos 07-15-2008 03:51 PM

MBBF must be salivating at this news.

korme 07-15-2008 03:59 PM

Ok, now I can not get 15 seconds into my dynasty without it freezing up. Fucking sweet.
