Basically, these aren't starving French peasants with nothing to lose. Trump's support--especially the types we saw on 1/6--are relatively well-off. Yeah, they are White and non-college educated and "working class," but they aren't poor. They have nice jobs and nice trucks and things to really lose.

And it is one thing to put on your cammo and pick up your rifle and go cosplay soldier out to defend Real America from Antifa and BLM and Democrats. It's costless. It's fun. It's like civil war reenactments.

But they just saw a bunch of dudes get arrested. And not pardoned. And those dudes are facing real federal time. And that changes things.

It was one thing when "I'm an angry white dude" was their get out of jail free card.

But that isn't going to work when you are trying to overthrow the government. And these people aren't going to risk their jobs and their family's financial stability to go run around and try to shoot at Senators.

There will still be the risk from lone wolf Timothy McVeigh types. But the organized militias may have simply (correctly) decided that this shit isn't worth going to federal prison for.

So I think (hope) I've mended fences with my twin brother after the blowout that made him leave Facebook-we agreed to not make politics such a hot spot for us and let our opinions slide.
