What does "shut down the country" even mean?
|
Having Gym Jordan speak for the right is a brilliant move. Will get most people to turn their TVs off.
|
Can somebody just punch him in the face on live TV. I'd pay good money for that.
|
Sweet. He doesn't understand the 1st amendment
|
|
As it has been from the beginning of Trump, the GOP stays the path:
Deny, Deflect & Ignore |
What the hell was Jordans argument? Cancel culture despite them spending the last 2 months trying to cancel the election?
|
Hannity's post-election ratings collapse
The wheels on the bus go beep beep beep Then fall off of the busssssss |
Apparently the GOP doesn't understand the word accountability.
Shocking from the Law and Order crowd. Shocking  |

Did they all go to OAN though? |

Airbnb Canceling All D.C. Area Reservations For Inauguration Week : Insurrection At The Capitol: Live Updates : NPR
They might as well have the inauguration indoors. The security perimeter might end up being west to Ohio, east to the Atlantic, south to South Carolina and north to Massachusetts. |

Should not have watched a Matt Gaetz speech right after lunch.
|
Normally, I'd watch this sort of procedural thing as I feel it's important to see the case. But I'm pretty sure I saw what I needed to last Wednesday so I'm going to pass today

I turned it off. It's clear the House GOP is just going to ignore an insurrection and sacking of the US Capitol. |
What I gather from the house GOP is that, a coup or insurrection can just be swept under the rug as long as it happens close to the inauguration of a new president.

No, they know what it means. Like when they say a young black kid should know better than to play with toy guns. Or how a young black man should know better than to go for a run. Or how a young black man shouldn't ask the cops for help while in the middle of a psychotic break. {Black} people have to be accountable for their actions. |
The Trump administration is trying to get the genie back in the bottle. A written statement "from Trump" was released trying to get ahead of any potential violence this week and Rhona McDaniel sent an email to Trump supporters trying to out a stop to to it as well.

I heard that theme, along with false equivalences on BLM protests, this isn't Biden's let's unify etc. But the one that did give me pause is re: we are rushing through this, we haven't heard any testimony etc. and this is setting up a bad precedence. I agree with this. If this was year 3, I would want the due process. Because we are -6 days and counting, I am supportive of this impeachment but it does give me pause. |
Just when I think the Republican Party can’t sink any lower I listen to these hearings.

I agree But it does shine a glaring hole on what the hell are we supposed to do about a President that tries to burn things to the ground on the way out. It should be the 25th, but we didn't forsee someone having such a cult following that anyone from his own party speaking out or trying to remove someone so unstable from office would face possible violent retaliation and the end of their political careers. |
Quote:
Several false equivalencies were abound for sure. It's pretty telling that the GOP can't tell the difference why the BLM protests were happening and why a group of traitorous morons attempted a coup. The reason for this impeachment isn't normal, so the expediency of this impeachment is totally fine with me. It's all 'on tape', so the evidence is already there, most of the world watched it live, including me. If it was more of he said/she said like the first impeachment was or if someone got a BJ and lied about it, then rushing the process would definitely give me pause. |
Quote:
Don't forget, if it happened before the election, then we should let the voters decide. |
Quote:
I don't recall what I was listening to (maybe The Press Box) but they made a salient point. When exactly would a wanna be despot who was already in power attempt a coup? Most likely right after having lost an election that is taking them out of power. There's no real reason to try a full out insurrection before then because you're already in power. It has to be a quick impeachment just because of when something like this would be likeliest to take place. |
Quote:
Almost forgot about that one. The GOP, the all world champs of kicking the can down the road. |
You've got to hand it to the GOP. Imagine having hundreds of people violently breaking into your place of work (whether their intentions were to capture/murder/etc. or just to frighten/intimidate), going through that trauma, and then less than a week later not being more pissed off that it was incited by and/or could have been called to a halt by a leader in your organization.
|
It wasn't the President, our supporters had an insurrection conspiracy in place well before the rally.
That's a hell of a defense for the GOP. |
Quote:
Eh, they wouldn't have harmed THEM, just the OTHER guys. |
Scalise is using Lincoln's second inaugural as his defense of Trump.
What happened both before and after that inaugural address, Mr. Scalise? |
The stars of the Dems are all young, but the power is held by the Undying Ones.

Tapper: "He (McCarthy) knows that when he goes on Fox, we can see him, right?"

"Censorship" "Accountability" are among the many words Republicans don't know the meaning of, as well as any understanding of the First Amendment. |
So Senate not taking it up until the 19th is good isn't it? +2 more Democratic senators.
|
Quote:
That's really the best defense for the President. He's going to claim that he never ordered or told anyone to ransack the capitol. Personally I'm unaware of him making any direct statements. I don't think he's THAT stupid. I've been wrong before though. Then we're going to be parsing every speech and tweet he's made for the last 4 years. Then there will be claims of bothsideisms. And in the end we will still all hate each other. |
Quote:
Just seen some of that, he should be another one removed from office |
Quote:
This smells much more like a CYA move. "See we told them not to do it last week". Of course, the President could go on TV and make a short speech conceding, recognizing Biden's win and mentioning him by name and strongly denouncing what occurred. |

Not sure if this the right thread, but it appears Veritas might have found actual evidence of election fraud in San Antonio
The clips I’ve seen seem to be mixed to helping Dems & Republicans, but it seems the person most linked was Mauro Garza, who lost, and was a Republican (you all probably knew last bit TBF!) San Antonio Woman Exposed by Project Veritas Arrested on Voter Fraud Charges | The Texan Although Veritas seems very shady, and the released video is clearly edited highlights, she apparently admits knowing her services are illegal, and to be charged there must be something there, and on the face of it it seems she offered a bipartisan service |
Trump has now been impeached more times than he’s won an election lawsuit.
|
The GOP using the defense that this was planned before the speech must not have watched the debate where Trump said for the right wing extremists to "Stand back and stand by."

This made me laugh so much I am stealing ;) |
After four years in the highest office in the land and 50 plus years in business, he still hasn't learned not to say the corruption out loud. Quote:

I read the defense as "his speech couldn't have incited the crowd because he had been inciting the crowd to violence for weeks before that."

I didn't realize that in Q world Space Force is basically a private military for Trump to use to round up Dems.

dola
WaPo is saying that Trump is pissed at Giuliani's fees and doesn't want to pay him. |
Hawley sticking to the Trump script to win in 2024.
He may be the antichrist. |
Trump never pays bills. Doesn't everyone know that?

So, the new arguement is going to be that there is no legal way to have a trial in the Senate on a former president.

I figured they'd go with something like "he's already gone so what does it matter" defense in the Senate. They shrug their shoulders and only 5 Rs vote to convict. Trump comes back in 2024, wins the nomination and the republic is on death's doorstep.
