Fun videos, keep them coming.

I am assuming these are the folks that actually went into the Capitol vs stayed outside.

Between this and other stories, you have to think it's not safe to hold the inauguration outside. I think it would be smart for Biden to do so in a safe place with trusted security. Take a few weeks to root out the insurrectionists from law enforcement and military.

If there was a bunch of thugs with weapons advancing on Biden & team during inauguration, absolutely take them down. I'm assuming the Secret Service will be ready with supporting reaction forces. (And if they haven't already, they absolutely need to have Gerard Butler at inauguration)

If there was a bunch of thugs with weapons breaking into GA State Capitol when there are people inside, absolutely take them down.

If there was a bunch of thugs with weapons breaking into XXX with nobody home, not worth it. Check out the cameras next morning and round them up.

Just a thought, but it is really that hard to track down the person(s) at the root of all this QAnon shit with the technology we have?

I would think at this point there would have to be some charges you could apply to whoever they are. and I get this is a movement now, but there is still a central "voice" is there not?

I don't know all the details but suspect there are 1A rights issues here.

QAnon was a bunch of conspiracy theories, it wasn't calling for an insurrection (btw - glad Biden, MSM and pretty much everyone else have agreed insurrection is more accurate than "coup") or at least, the original person(s) didn't.

But yeah, anyone on Parlor etc. championing the overthrow of our government should be monitored for sure.

We know who is doing it. One example would be Matt Gaetz the night of the insurrection. The problem would be linking the speech to inciting actions that might harm others.

Definitely understand this piece, but I was talking to the actual 'Q" entity that is the driving force behind it all. I suppose at this has spread that ship has long sailed, but I guess my point would be more to identifying the originator of this and exposing them.

Hah, no one could have forseen how something like QAnon would have evolved to what it is now.

We own this, not some rooskies.

Call it American "ingenuity" and "creativity". The country, as a whole, is at the top of Maslow's hierarchy with "self actualization". We have so much free time to do, think, create etc. stupid things when easily 4/5ths of the world is struggling to survive and take care of their families.

Probably some for sure but do we really think Putin needs to spend much resources on this now. It has taken on a life of it’s own with more then enough “Patriots” running with this narrative.

Just got an email at work from the Joint Chiefs of Staff reminding Service Members not to take any acts that disrupt the Constitutional Process and stating that "On January 20th, 2021, in accordance with the Constitution, confirmed by the states and courts, and certified by Congress, President-elect Biden will be inaugurated and will become our 46th Commander in Chief."

It's crazy that they felt an email like this is necessary.

albionmoonlight 01-12-2021 04:33 PM

Jesus. On the one hand, I am glad the top military brass understands that the military has a white supremacist problem in its ranks.

On the other hand, an email like this makes me think that it’s actually a lot worse than any of us realize.

I saw that. What's worse is it took them 6 days to send that out.

Edward64 01-12-2021 04:36 PM

I do like what corporations are doing now re: PAC donations. More and more jumping on the bandwagon.

I believe Marriott was one of the first (or near first) to do this. I'm happy that I'm a lifetime Platinum member and am partial to Marriott properties, glad to support them.

Unfortunately, my company I work for hasn't joined yet. A little disappointing.

Military has been churning out right-wing terrorists for awhile. They've known for decades.

Atocep 01-12-2021 04:40 PM

It is good to see, but I hope they don't quietly go back to donating in a couple of months. They need to, at minimum, hold out through an election cycle while Mo Brooks, Cruz, and Hawley especially shouldn't see another penny from these corporations.

I believe it's currently Ron Watkins, an end times troll. From what I understand someone else started it, but wantkins basically staged an internet coup over at 8chan and stole the moniker.

Toddzilla 01-12-2021 05:02 PM

Listened to a great podcast today and it was put forward that the insurrectionists are simply at the logical end of their worldview:
  • Barack Obama was a Kenyan and an illegitimate President
  • Ted Cruz rigged the Iowa caucuses
  • Hillary Clinton tried to steal the 2016 election
  • Joe Biden did steal the 2020 election
So how else are people that believe this supposed to act? Birtherism is a majority GOP-help belief. These people - deluded as they may be - legitimately believe that democracy is being stolen away from them and like in 1776, it's up to them to foment a violent revolution. And make no mistake, the colonists insurrections against British rule were WAY more violent that anything we've seen so far. So it's a perverted sense of patriotism that is fully grounded in lies and fantasy and conspiracy theories that move people to storm the Capitol because they legitimately believe they're saving the Republic.

How do we stop it? Beats me.

Edward64 01-12-2021 05:14 PM

If he truly was one that breached the Capitol ... eh, neutral, no sympathies for or against him. 3 more identified below.

Georgia man arrested following Capitol insurrection has died by suicide
Quote:

An Alpharetta man who was among those arrested following the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Wednesday has killed himself, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Christopher Georgia, 53, died Saturday from a gunshot wound to his chest, said M. Ruffin, an investigator for the office. Georgia’s body was found in the basement of a home in a subdivision near Brierfield and Mid Broadwell roads, Alpharetta police records show.

Metropolitan Police in Washington, D.C., arrested Georgia Wednesday evening and charged him with “unlawful entry of public property” and violating the city’s 6 p.m. curfew in connection with last week’s storming of the Capitol by President Trump’s supporters.

He pleaded not guilty Thursday, D.C. Superior Court records show, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported his involvement in Friday’s editions.

His attorney, Marnitta King, declined to comment. His family did not respond to requests for comment.

Georgia was among several Peach State residents who traveled to Washington Wednesday. Online sleuths have identified Savannah QAnon adherent Dominic Box, Americus lawyer McCall Calhoun and former Georgia resident Eric Munchel as among the hundreds who breached the U.S. Capitol.

Edward64 01-12-2021 05:20 PM

Didn't hear about this but good Chuck wasn't involved (really hope this is true). This makes me wonder if there were some celebs in the crowd that went into the Capitol incognito.

albionmoonlight 01-12-2021 05:28 PM

Liz Cheney coming out publicly is kind of huge, I think.

McConnell leaking that he's OK with it is also a big deal.

538 did a game theory analysis a while ago arguing that if the GOP politicians ever turned on Trump, they would do it in a hurry. It would not be a slow drip. It would be 24 hours of a united front against him.

That may be starting now.

Or, maybe it's just smoke and no fire.

Edward64 01-12-2021 05:31 PM

I kind of wonder if the strategy is to tell him they have the votes and that he should resign. Would mean far less blowback for them. Don't think they have the courage to rid him.

It makes all the sense in the world for them to remove him and vote to not allow him to ever hold office again. He would literally have no voice at that point. He can't rerun, he can't bash them in social media, so aside from going on some right wing media platforms he has no voice anymore.
