had been looking for this since it got announced at TouchArcade but Clumsy Ninja seems to be available in the app store now. Will download tonight. :)
I also ended picking up Junk Jack X yesterday. Loved the first game and was itching for a digging/adventure/crafting casual game... FM |

Can't really help since it's been so long since my last Kairosoft purchase that all the ones I own are not universal... FM edit, just found I have Beastie Bay. Will try to take a look... |
I'll wait for reviews on the new Kairosoft game. The last few have been pretty meh tbh.
|
Clumsy Ninja is a lot of silly fun. I giggle like a little kid every time my ninja comes forward for a high five, silly I know... :)

Having a lot of fun with Pocket Stables.
I'm sure there's a magic combo of horse breeding that will kick ass, but so far, just trying out the different combinations has been quite cool |

I agree, Flick Football Legends is a lot of fun, for maybe 15 minutes at a time, then you gotta wait out the timer... Annoying, but I got other games I can play until next time... It's more the freemium elements that people are all in arms about over at TouchArcade. The ad banner doesn't bother me at all though. FM |
Speaking of Ace Attorney, apparently the 3-game trilogy can be unlocked for $5 this weekend. Given that it's a Friday and given that it's Thanksgiving next week in the US, this seems like a great deal. I might even buy it, even though I procured all the games for the DS (one of them twice!) at full retail. Another dumb question. There are games that I currently have that are for both iPhone and iPad. Would I need to re-download or re-purchase those games to load it onto the iPad?
|
Quote:
Anything you bought with your apple account can be downloaded on any of your apple devices. |
I guess there are some exceptions? I have Trade Mania 1 for iPhone (still playing that regularly) but I just saw that there is a HD version for iPad at $4.99. That would be a new purchase/download?
|
Quote:
Yes. But you should be able to download the iPhone version you already bought. |
Quote:
If the game is "universal," then it will work and look at least decent on either device and can be loaded to either (or both) without re-buying. If the game has an HD version, then that usually means that to look nice on the iPad, you need to buy it again (and it may or may not sync, usually not). But the non-HD version will still play just in the smaller-screen mode (or upsize to 2x which usually looks awful). /tk |
That's what I alluded to earlier, I wouldn't want to see the smaller screen mode on an iPad and hope that 2x mode wouldn't look awful on some games. Caylus is one of the reasons I wanted an iPad since I have lots of trouble seeing/learning that on the iPhone. That's one game I have that could benefit from blowing it up.

I asked this in the FOF main forum, but I am wondering about anyone's experience with Front Office Football on remote desktop apps for the iPad such as logmein. Additionally, how might this compare on the iPad Mini.
Alternatively, even viewpoints on remote desktop apps for the iPad mini in general would be good. Right now, I'm stuck between deciding on whether to get an iPad or a mini and the possibility of FOF7 on it could be the difference maker. |
I have played a fair bit of FOF via logmein on the iPad, it's pretty workable. Not perfect, but workable. Entering in numbers (like for contracts) is a little tiresome, and it takes some patience to click on precisely the right spot (for me, at least) but it's definitely possible to play the game via the remote app.
Playing FOF via logmein even inspired a pretty decent set of house rules informed by the comments above -- I started playing a "no haggling" where my only choices when signing players was to accept their contract requests directly (i.e. no entering numbers). Made for an interesting challenge, actually. |
Hmmm...didn't know about that. That opens up some possibilities, not FOF but other types of games. I'll have to read up on experiences with logmein. Thanks QS.

So if clicking on the right spots is an issue, I am speculating that the iPad mini would probably have some issues based on an even small screen size. Would that be fair to say? |
Quote:
I would think so - that screen size might be pushing the limits. |
Looks like New Star Soccer has a free "pro" license available today, I'm not sure what that means or how to activate it, but FYI.

How is State of Decay?

App Shopper: Band Stars (Games)
Been playing a lot of this the last few days. Think a bit like Game Dev Story but you have a band. You discover new types of music and subject for songs and your band member have attributes that you can train (lyrics, rythm, etc) and the better they get, the better your songs are. Some types of music go better along with some subjects. Cartoony and fun. FM |

Fun game, but the crashes are constant for me. Like every 3-5 minutes. |

really? Has not crashed once with my iPad... FM |
Ever since I got my iPad Air a month ago, I have spent a great deal of time building my iPad game collection. I have gone through countless lists, reviews, advice (esp. from here), searches and walkthroughs to get a variety of iOS games that I know I would like to play and keep. Here's my collection organized by genre (some were holdovers from my iPhone):
Strategy Great Big War Game Sid Meier's Pirates! Ticket to Ride Trade Mania Cargo Runners Imperial Adventure and Puzzle The Lost City Return to Mystery Island Machinarium Lost Echo The Room The Room Two Board Brief History of the World Carcassonne Caylus Forbidden Island High Society Le Havre Modern Art Puerto Rico Ra Razzia Others Monopoly Yahtzee Gin Rummy Tetris Angry Birds Seasons Angry Birds Rio THETA Poker Unblock Me |
What's your Carc username? TK, FrogMan and I play all the time.

For people that like puzzle games , threes is a pretty fun little game.
|
Quote:
how about that. Picked it up this afternoon after reading the review on TouchArcade and was about to come here to post about it when I got the email that you had posted to this thread. For some reason, I immediately thought you posted about threes, before I even read the email or saw your post... It's indeed a well made little game... FM |
I'm looking forward to the sequel to 10000000.
Haven't tried 3's, not sure it's for me after reading the description. Had some misses with stuff TA recommended lately, kinda gun-shy. Plus I'm still playing Jetpack Joyride, those stupid daily SAM challenges, I'm up to "Level 8" in the SAM stuff. /tk |
one game I started playing again is Plague Inc. Played a few games on my iPhone when it came out but started feeling liek it was just too crowded on the tiny screen. On the iPad, it's still a lot of fun and I've not even tried the many new scenarios... FWIW, this game is coming for PCs on Steam...

Freaking addictive. |

I absolutely blow at it. Best score so far is 1,311. |
Threes really has that "one more play" feel to it. Each time, I feel like I could have just done one more small thing better and gotten a much higher score.. so I try it again.
|
Yup, addicted. Still don't fell like I'm really executing a real strategy, but I'm getting a feel for the game. I got my first 192 now (maybe my 8th or 10th game) and it felt like a rush.
|
I somehow managed a 2074 on one of my early tries, not even been close since.
No idea how the leader on GameCentre is at 9million points. |
I seem to be getting in the 3000-7000 range most games now, every once in a while I'll break 10,000 but I just can't get past that hurdle right now with my current strategy.
I'm basically trying to use one of the corners as my building corner with the highest point blocks and then branching out from there in a hierarchical pattern as best I can. My main goal is to try to constantly be removing duplicates as quickly and efficiently as I can. Right now the difference between my good games and not so good games seems to center around luck as I occasionally take a gamble and move out a side when I see a white piece coming in next. Usually it works out ok and gives me a 3, or even if I get a 6 it is manageable. If I end up with a 12/24 or higher that is usually when things unravel very quickly for me. |
Quote:
Okay, that will help me stick with it. I'm nowhere near that point, so I suspect I'm just missing major stuff. I, too, have been parking big numbers into a corner, but don't have as much structure as you clearly do past that. Will try to fiddle a bit more. |
Quote:
And thanks so much for the inadvertent spoiler. See, I'm really not so hot at RTFM skills. Had never paid any attention to the little indicator of the upcoming color. Totally different game with that knowledge! First game actually paying attention, I posted 6,948 just crushing my previous high. So, there's that. |
Quote:
I think the biggest strategy decision in the game revolves around what the next piece is and how you want it to enter your board (as it fits in with your strategy on parking combinations). After that, there seems to be a decent amount of luck involved in getting the correct white piece, or not getting four reds in a row when you just need 1 blue or such. I finally got a 20k score, and I think I played it the same way as my 7k games and my 10k games. The only difference was that I lasted longer until I had that busting piece come out to get me. I'm hitting a wall now with my strategy that the way I set out the matches, once I get to this high of numbers I am now running out of space on the board to expand it any further. So I need to re-think my strategy and try to figure out a better way of consolidating tiles faster and not have a bunch of 3->6->12->24->48->96 scattered around waiting for matches. |
20k? Impressive. I just broke 8k for the first time and was pretty pleased with myself!
|
bump so it goes to the top of the list in tapatalk

not sure if this belongs in this thread or the book thread, but whatever...
This Insane New App Will Allow You To Read Novels In Under 90 Minutes | Elite Daily |

As the comments suggest, this is much better for reading textbooks than it is for novels (but of course, textbooks lack the sexy hook). In its current format, it creates a surface-level novel reading experience that has little engagement with the text. Have to start from somewhere, though. |
I'm late to the party with this one I'm sure, but Genius Scan lets you convert photos on your iPhone to PDF files. It's a brilliant time saver if you need to send someone a PDF from something printed out. Quality is pretty good as well.

So, with Threes! -- I think I actually still like the game, but no longer enjoy playing it. Does that make any sense?
|
Perfect sense, actually.
I hit a high score of over 20k, and have rarely picked it up since. I wish there was an option to start the game in later stages, but I find building the board up to be rather tedious at this point. |
