Time to shuffle apps around to free up enough space to download this update. Ugh! :) |
there's another work day going awya.

Dang, the guy didn't even have time to spell-check... |
Painful process to remove enough apps to make the upgrade happen, but it did work. Are you guys seeing a lot of display errors in the game now? None of the event descriptions look right.
|
Yes. Hopefully they'll pach quickly.
|
I seem to have received a very small update, but the UI now looks good. no more "CUF" or (null) races at the moment.

I haven't seen any UI issues since yesterday. nice quick response. |
I really wish Kairosoft would release Pocket Stables for iOS. Pyra-plex and Ninja Village too. Dreamhouse Days is at least free so I can just grab that for my phone.

I've been obsessed with learning texas hold'em and got a pair of apps that has been really helping in learning the game. The poker app is Theta Poker and to me, it is very hard. It has a buy-in tournament where the money you would win from the, say, first round (one table of 8) gives you enough to try the next tournament (top 3 of 24) a few times. If you run out, then you have to go back and earn more money. Single-player mode, of course.
Anyway, since I am a beginner, it was hard for me to be in the money, let alone advance in the early rounds. I just didn't know the proper values of hands. I though a pocket Ace or a pocket suited are always good to at least limp in. Then I got the app called Texas Hold'em Flash Cards which explains each pcoket combination and what you should do. For example, with Ace-Ten Unsuited: fold in early position, otherwise limp; call single raise in big blind only. I know this is baby stuff for poker players but I had no idea of early, middle, late positions and that you really only play a fraction of your hands. Also, there is a Memorizer that you can purchase that will test/quiz you. If any one else is in the same position as me, I would recommend these two apps. |

oh good grief! :)

All of these messages in my inbox of people beating my time causes some sort of OCD to kick in for me. I swear BrianD knocks off like 5-6 at a go and I feel compelled to play until I have all of those back.

I've got the same thing going on with you. Every time I start up I see at least 5-6 messages of you beating my times and I just can't live with that. :) |
Is it worth creating a RR-specific thread?

That's probably a good idea and I just started a new thread for it... FM |

FIFA is driving me insane! On the Xbox the auto switching means you can head the ball away before danger builds. The iPhone version means I can switch players but have no button to defend/head the ball. The auto switching is useless so you have to select manually very often.
I've been using it as a football manager type sim for career mode, but the AI is too basic I think. Scores are nearly always 0-0, 1-0 or 2-1. Not a great buy if you want any sort of realism |
Sorry to come and shill, but...
I've been addicted to clash of clans lately and after some minor turmoil my clan leader left and I am now clan leader. It's a good clan with active mature people and I would love to add from FOFC's ranks. If you're interested let me know. We are called Candy Shop and have a red shield. You can also friend me on Game Center with my FOFC username @yahoo.com Best, BK |

I have a tiny clan I'm in with two other guys. Let me talk to them and we maybe will switch over. Not getting much clan benefit right now. |
Quote:
Yeah a larger clan definitely works better. It's why I'm trying to get our numbers back up into the 40s from the mid 30s we are at now. |
I'm joining in on clash of clans.
|
just restarted playing Clash of Clans after having uninstalled it from my devices a while ago. Only some 300 trophies so far so will have to work my way up to get the required 1300 trophies needed to apply for your clan... See ya in a little while...

I may give CoC a look... I downloaded it once since it seems to sit forever atop the top-grossing games, but haven't even opened it up, I don't think. Will try to do so and join Team Barkeep.
|

same for me although I did open it, tried it a bit but never actually tried to learn what I was doing and never found any FOFCers that seemed to be really active... I don't know much more what to do, but it syncs between my iPad and my iPhone, so I'll check on it regularly and keep on building stuff... FM |
I'm not fond of being stuck with only 2 builders. People who are willing to pay to get more builders are going to have a big advantage.
|
The appshopper app had been pulled from the app store because it didn't comply with some rule but it's back, with a social twist to it:
App Shopper: AppShopper Social (Utilities) my appshopper username is QcFrogMan if you wanna friend me... FM |
It does not seem to be as nice as the old appshopper app in my opinion.

seems very similar to the old one from what little I've seen of it, no iPad version yet though, so for now I'm ok with the new one on my iPhone but will stick with the old universal one on my iPad... FM |
but at least it's back and will continue to be updated. At one point, the old one would have probably died, or at least you would have had to keep a copy of it somewhere because you could not download it anymore...

if anybody is interested, the Star Wars tables are on sale for 99 cents as IAP in Zen Pinball, until May 6th as part of their "May the 4th be with you" event
Regular price is $1.99 per table FM |

Cool, thanks! Guess I'll get the other ones now. |
I also couldn't resist picking up the three SW tables... :)

I had a chance to play Sid Meier's Ace Patrol last night (apparently not available until May 9th for most of the world) and it's great.
Between that and Eclipse for iPad, this is the best week I've had with iOS gaming. Ace Patrol has in-app purchases, but not obscene enough to prevent me from enjoying the game! |
Sushi Spinery is out for iphone (Kairosoft game)
Has anybody tried Star Command? It is #4 on the app store. Looks pretty cool and will probably buy it, but just wondering if anybody gave it a try yet. |
6 day dola...
It has been out for a few months, but I just discovered the "Lost Treasures of Infocom." It is a free download which gets you the original Zork game. You can buy bundles of Infocom games for $2.99 each or buy every Infocom game (there are about 20) for $9.99. Great nostalgic fun! |
I have Star Command but I haven't played it much yet. I'm into Injustice. I also picked up Survivalcraft and GTA Vice City and haven't played them.
|
Survivalcraft is a good pickup. You are able to do a lot more than minecraft pe.
|
I picked up Star Command but was disappointed. It is pretty repetitive and doesn't seem to have much depth. It has some funny moments, too, but it isn't really the game we all heard about on Kickstarter way back when. It's worth a buck or two but I wouldn't pay more for it.
|
Sid meier's Ace Patrol is finally available in the US Appstore now. Downloading it currently. So far I am seeing comments other places that this game is great fun.
For those that hadn't heard about it, its based on WW1 combat aces. |
Go Home Dinosaurs! is out for iPad and is getting similar reviews as the Steam and PSN versions. I played at PAX and enjoyed it...I'm really bad at Tower Defense stuff though.
|

So far I really like this game. Turn based tactical game where you level up your pilots. I guess there is multiplayer too in it, but I've been busy playing the campaign and having fun |
Same for me Alan, only two missions in but I really like the feeling of the game...

I'd downloaded a few RPG type games lately and WazHack was one I hadn't tried yet. It's a lot of fun, think about a side-scroller dungeon crawler type of game.
Neat Side-scrolling Roguelike 'WazHack' Now Available on iOS | Touch Arcade It's free to download and you can play any of the characters up to a certain depth, then you can unlock them for 99 cents with IAP... Another I bought and have played a little is Dark Quest, it's also fun as a dungeon crawler type game: 'Dark-Quest' Review - Emulating Strategy Board Games of Yore (Review) | Touch Arcade I've also downloaded Kingturn and Toucharcade are raving about it but I've yet to play it Kingturn RPG Review | Touch Arcade Finally, Eclipse is on my wishlist after being mentioned earlier in the thread but I'll wait for a possible price drop Eclipse: New Dawn for the Galaxy Review | Touch Arcade I'm thinking that many of these could appeal to the FOFC crowd... FM |
oh, and in the silliest move of all, I bought King Cashing 2 only to remember I had bought the original King Cashing but had never played it so I'm now playing the first one, and having fun with it, doh! :D
FM |
well, to be fair, I had picked up the first one when it went free for a day or so...

I bought Eclipse last week. Havent had a chance to sit down and learn it/play it yet though. It seems up my ally though combination of board game and 4x game on the ipad... seems like a perfect fit for me. |
For fans of board game ports to IOS, Ravensburger games just released Las Vegas which is port of a fairly popular board game. I bought it and played it for a while. I enjoyed it enough, pretty similar to alot of other games out there though, basic summary is:
You roll dice which you then assign to one of 6 casinos that are each worth random amounts. The goal is to have more dice in the casinos that are worth the most for the biggest total score. You play 4 rounds and the player with the most money at the end wins. Probably can find more about the board game version of this over at BGG site, and the IOS port reportedly is an excellent copy of the original board game, so probably alot of similarities between the two. |
Quote:
Can you expand on this? What happens each turn and what are the decisions you make? What determines getting more die? |
Each round every player has 8 die. You don't ever start with less or more and you don't have any chance to gain the number of rolls.
When you roll, each die comes up with a number 1 through 6. Those numbers correspond to the six casinos. You can then choose which casino to assign your dice to and then you no longer have those dice available for that round once assigned. As an example, say the casinos randomly start this round with values of: Casino 1 - $60,000 Casino 2 - $80,000 Casino 3 - $70,000 Casino 4 - $50,000 Casino 5 - $80,000 Casino 6 - $90,000 Then say your die rolls are: 1,4,4,2,6,5,4,2 So you would have three 4's , two 2's, and one each of 1,5,6 You could assign your three fours to casino four, but it would be a waste to assign so many die to the casino worth the least that round. You likely would put your two 2's in for the $80k casino #2 instead. Then when your next roll for that round comes up, since you have your two die assigned to casino 2, you now only have 6 to roll with and so on. At the end of each round, the player with the most die in each casino wins the money that casino is worth. This example was a little simplistic as the casinos sometimes also have secondary dollar amounts for the second place finisher to add to strategy decisions as well. |
For Clash of Clans, I have created a clan called GreyDogSoftware if anyone is interested.
