Controller - 360 is the best controller I've ever used.
Multiplayer - Going to be a hell of a lot more people in the US playing on LIVE than on the PS3 network.

With the added benefit of this super-secret downloadable content. At the very least, I would view that as a tie-breaker of sorts. I wouldn't let it totally sway my opinion since we've heard nothing specific about it, but all things being equal, I want the version that is confirmed to be getting the new stuff.

Obviously, the statement concerning the online play and how many players will be online is inaccurate. The 360 is region locked, so you will only be able to play with North American players. The PS3 online play is not region locked, so the online player base available is much larger than you present in your statement. The game is expected to do extremely well in Europe and my experience in other online games has been that even European games generally have chat in English, so it's no different than playing with Americans. There will be plenty of online players on the PS3.

I've had to resist that urge as well, which I have successfully. I should get a few hours this evening though before AI thanks to sweet talking Mrs. E. :)

I don't want to turn this into a 360 vs. PS3 debate. I gave the reasons why I'd purchase the 360 version.

Most of the A+ titles that have come out on both systems have the 360 version of the game with a huge lead. COD4 stands at something like 5.7 million to 2.9 million.

I don't see any reason to think that trend won't continue. But it doesn't matter. . . it's all preferance and opinion. It's pretty clear a majority of the gaming sites are saying the two games are the same, with minor advantages in certain areas over the other one. The controller alone makes the decision easy for me at that point.

Post when you get back. Just curious how big the numbers are as far as stock on hand. The Neogaf thread on availability is generally reporting that the PS3 version has been selling out (Rockstar didn't ship as many PS3 units in the U.S.) while the 360 version generally has ample supply to cover the demand.

That was info from the midnight launches. I'm guessing that the stores that open today at a regular time should have ample stock through the afternoon. Evening might be a stretch. I'm going to make a lunch run to Circuit City just to avoid any issues.

As an example, someone posted that their local Best Buy had around 400 copies of the 360 version while they had between 250-300 copies of the PS3 version.

So I just got back from picking mine up. And now I get to stare at the box and my free Target exclusive 360 skin. Nice simple skin, and it doesn't say Target on it so that is nice. :)

Hopefully I can play it by next week, but we will see how fast I get my 360 back, or even fixed at all.

I ended up getting the regular game, not the Special Edition like I had pre-ordered. The lady in charge didn't seem to care as the kid before me used his regular pre-order towards a Special Edition. The wife wanted to save the $30 bucks or whatever it was, and we never really meant to get the Special Edition anyways, it was an accident by her.

It pays not to be first as well. The first two guys got their 360 versions and walked off. I nicely asked the lady about using my Special Edition pre-order for the regular game, she asked me to hold on, walked off, and came back with a big stack of 360 versions and the skins. The guys before me didn't get their free skins. The guy after me and I did get it. Woohoo.

My exact situation I have at the home front... even though my baby is only 2.5 months old I still don't want to play this game while she's awake :rolleyes:

Mine just started walking. I sometimes take her up with me and play games for a few minutes. She has all the toys laid out on the floor. But she always ignores all of those toys and goes right over to the other wireless PS3 controller on the floor and starts pushing the buttons and flipping around the joysticks........just like Daddy. :D

First 2 hours played and i'm loving it, the storyline and characters are amazing (won't spoil anything). Btw, the dark city areas are sooo dark and hard to drive in them but it helps a lot to feel you're into those poor city neighborhoods and to notice a big change in lights when you drive in the better areas. The only problem i'm having is getting used to the camera specially on fights.

Our 8 month old is enamored with any remote or gamepad.. especially the guitar controllers for GH.

Does the city feel pretty big to you? I am sitting here looking at the map from the game and it looks like it could be big, but maybe not much bigger then the first GTA III in Liberty City. I know the game world is helped by more buildings to go into, but just on the streets, does it seem pretty good size so far?

Just picked up my pre-order on lunch from Gamestop. Of course now I have to sit here another five hours till playing it. My Gamestop claimed they are selling 3:1 X-box 360 over PS3 but I find that hard to believe, even as a 360 fan.

I didn't figure it was as high as a 3:1 ratio though. 2 to 1 I might be able to see but that salesman's comment was, "Three of every four we have sold is for the X-Box and frankly, we're expecting it to be even more skewed later." I expected it to be more like that COD4 numbers, 2 to 1 although maybe there is something to the DLC exclusive that is keeping people with the 360.

Went and picked it up at midnight at my local gamestop, just to throw these numbers out there, at midnight the PS3 line was 11 people long. I was number 47 in the 360 line. Of course this isn't a big city gamestop, but still the numbers really did shock me.

Well, the Target nearest me was 4-0 in favor of the 360. There were 4 of us total, and we were all getting the 360 version.

The 360 has a monster lead over Sony in the US. The other issue is that there are quite a few of the PS3's that are being used as Blu Ray only players. It wouldn't shock me at all to see the 360 version outsell the PS3 version by 2.5 to 3 to 1 in the US.

They had tons of both. I ended up going with the PS3 version. Not entirely sure why, but The Show seemed lonely as the only PS3 game on my shelf. I also am still leery of my 360 blowing up at some point so there was that.

I also took this afternoon off. Less to do with the game and more because I need an afternoon off. This just seemed like a good day for it.

This is actually a pretty good testbed for the question: "are people buying the PS3 as a game machine or as the best Blu-Ray player on the market?"

Or both. Obviously, the ratio in the U.S is going to be higher for the 360. It's how much higher that matters. Conversely, the PS3 version has the upper hand in Europe, which is currently the world's largest console region of the three major regions. That ratio will be similarly interesting to watch.

Got my PS3 copy at Circuit City with the $10 gift card. They had 3 more PS3 copies and 10 more 360 copies left. Also, they had 4 copies of the special edition for each of the consoles. I was actually surprised that they had that many copies left for either system.

Heads up for those that bought the game. Rockstar is reporting that some users on both the PS3 and 360 are having some freezing issues during the game. Doesn't sound like they have a firm grasp on the issue yet........

Go to the menu and adjust bright and contrast. I only have problems at nights in very dark areas, i need to turn up the bright and contrast or i can't see anything. For me it's fine during the day.

Dola, i have played for 4 hours already and made only 4.5% of the storyline, and i'm not doing a lot besides it so for sure this is going to last way more than 48 hours as i'm now going to start to drive around and create some chaos. Also need to try online that is being said to be awesome, for example, 3 guys getting into a car and while one drives the other two can shoot around trough the car windows, max destruction!

I think the 360 version will also sell higher because of the multiplayer aspect. For example my brother has both a 360 and a PS3, but all the rest of his friends only have 360's. So he will likely buy the 360 version just so that he can play online with everyone.

Wife just picked up our copy for the 360 and is headed home to play it. I...on the other hand...am at work until tomorrow morning at 8 am....so I get to hear stories of HER having fun with it first.

Wow i just created a free mode online game and all the weapons are around, it's just about taking them and creating chaos, up to 16 humans in the whole city with citizens, police, etc etc. I just took an ak47 and started a huge fight vs 5 cops cars.

This might be a stupid question, but I really haven't followed this game at all until about a week ago when I decided I have to have it.

The 360 exclusive content...when exactly do we find out what it is?

Just got back from Fry's. I can echo the 360 landslide is occurring at the Austin Fry's as well. The said they've sold over 300 360 versions versus about 25 for the PS3.

I am very curious to see how the 360 vs. PS3 sales pan out.

I enjoy the monthly threads and have a good laugh poking fun at MBBF as much as the next guy, but this is the chance i think for one of these two to flex their muscles a bit. Console sales are good, but to sustain them you have to sell software so that developers care about your console. In theory the ratio of game sales should be around what the ratio of consoles is. If one console has a signficantly better ratio of software sales that is a huge bragging point and a good indication of their impact on their market as a gaming console.

This is a very popular game that is being released at the same time on both consoles. It is basically equal on both consoles (if not a slight bit better on PS3 due to the mild graphical glitches on the 360) rather than the situation with the EA Sports games where they were inferior on the PS3 last year.

I really don't care who "wins out". I have a 360, but even if they don't "win" in the end the console is enough of a success that i don't have to worry about whether games will be made for it, etc, etc.

The Game Crazy I went to had their 360 copies of the game plundered - pretty much everyone I heard in the line were talking about snagging it for the 360...

Maybe it was the late hour, combined with being tired that I kind of felt bad for the PS3, so I picked up the PS3 version.

Anyways, having vested just an hour into the game, I think I'm having problems like MrBug's... things looks a little 'blurry/soft' to me. Then again, it's probably because I was really tired... but I'll have to adjust that setting later tonight. Are folks running this in 1080p? My system keeps defaulting to 720p.. it's like I have to de-select that resolution from the list and keep the rest selected on the PS3 for it to go for the highest resolution that it can afford... :confused:

Not a major thing, but...

It improves a lot in 1080p, as for any other PS3 game, you need to remove the other resolutions but the minimum and 1080p, then i will run at 1080p.
