Yes it is. Anyone able to get online? I'll give it another 10 mins or so.

Cool, I just exited but I'll start the room back up.

Will we be able to use those sliders for the online dynasties?

Yes. One thing we will vote on as a league is a slider set. We'll be able to use whatever sliders we come to a consensus on.

Kodos 07-18-2008 11:47 AM

Can you do them in unranked games too?

That I don't know. I know that when I played BigDPW, I tried to look to see if there was a list of sliders and there was none in the game. I don't know if the game automatically uses whatever sliders are on the invitees' machine or if they are just default. Once I try out this set, I'll have a better sense of that, although I suspect they are online dynasty only.

PurdueBrad 07-18-2008 11:57 AM

After crashing the thread, I'll not try to post the actual video. Here's a link to what I consider one of my cooler plays. I lost the game but this was still a pretty cool play. The fake pitch on the last defender is kind of nasty...

kcchief19 07-18-2008 12:09 PM

That was sick -- nice runback.

This is probably me being too simplistic but is the ability to lateral at any time new? I'm not sure if I ever tried it before on defense or kick return. I did accidentally lateral with my QB on a scramble and he managed to successfully pitch it to an O-lineman, which in previous versions was almost a guaranteed fumble.

I'll be lurking online tonight if anybody is looking for an easy victory.

Anthony 07-18-2008 12:12 PM

if i could figure out how to log into easportsworld i'd show some clips of my thrashing of Kodos, but alas, the powers that be don't want me to log in.

Logan 07-18-2008 12:20 PM

Mike and I just played a good game, where I won with Rutgers 31-7 over UNC. Lot of UNC TOs (I got picked 3 times also) and Mike had a tough time stopping me on 3rd down along with the overall passing game.

Watch out to the east coast league though...he found his QB.

All you need to do is sign up with the e-mail address that is associated with your Xbox live account, I believe.

That's right NO starters job is safe with the new coach.

Yes 2 of those picks my WR tipped to his defense!!! My 5'7 CB's had no chance against that beast you had!

I am struggling in 09 to play defense, run, pass and kick, but everything else is great!!!

Detox and I just split two games....I beat his Colorado with my Stanford, and his Michigan beat my Arizona State. Two competitive games. I'm ready for another if anyone is around.

ColtCrazy 07-18-2008 05:28 PM

One of the local video stores had one copy of the Wii NCAA Football game. Not one in, just one period. No one had rented it yet (bad sign) so I decide I'd spend the weekend messing around with it. After playing it for the last 2 hours, here are my thoughts on things that probably matter to most of us.

GRAPHICS - This isn't usually a make or break thing for me, but I do expect graphics to be decent. I own the Zelda game and I think graphically it's very good for a Wii game. NCAA Football is sub par IMO. The players move well but the graphics don't seem well polished. I'd probably give it a 5 or 6/10.

GAME PLAY - Here's where things get interesting. With the Wii mote I think it makes passing a lot of fun. You have a lot of control on touch or bullet passes. However, I'm struggling to find a camera angle that allows me to see the sidelines well. You have to roll out to see them which limits you offensively. Also, there's no way to see your play on the screen before you snap...and since the play calling doesn't tell you which player is which button, it makes quick passes very difficult unless you are passing to the middle of the field. Also, your buttons are A or the 4 directions on the D-pad at the top of the controller. It's fairly easy to hit the wrong direction and throw to the wrong receiver. Oddly enough, I'm enjoying the passing despite these flaws. Running has a lot of options to juke, stiff arm, etc depending on how you move the controller. Running will take a lot of practice though. It doesn't seem very fluid at times. Defensively it can be a challenge because the AI does a lot of quick passing. It's difficult to try to switch and do the right move in a split second.
I've been playing on Junior because it's taking awhile to get up to speed on things. I was getting thumped earlier, but my last game I beat Georgia with IU. I'll move up to AA as the weekend goes on. There are also a few too many INTs and fumbles, but I'm hoping sliders will take care of that.
Overall, I'd say the game play is a 7/10. There's a good game in there somewhere, but there's several flaws.

DYNASTY MODE - What I was really concerned about. I should note that the last version of NCAA I have is 07's Xbox version. I love this version and feel the dynasty mode if quite good. The Wii version has the same features. You can do preseason recruiting, though you don't have as many player interaction options as older versions have. You also can do your normal offseason recruiting. It's based off hours and you allocate those hours to different players. The dynasty mode seems basic, and more than enough to keep you occupied, but there's a huge item missing that might break it for me. You can't export your draft classes. I enjoy doing this and it's annoying that it's not there. Also, though it doesn't change dynasty mode, there's no create a player/team that I can find yet.
Like Game Play, I'd say the dynasty mode is a 7/10. The lack of exporting is annoying. Having not player 08, I don't know if it's a step back or not.

My initial impression of this game is that there's a good start here, but it just doesn't seem finished. I'd say it's a 7/10, which not makes me wonder do I go ahead and buy this, live with it, or do I seriously consider buying a PS3 because I love the full football experience. I don't know.

Anyway, if anyone has questions, I'll mess around with things and find out for you. On a funny note, I was simming with Indiana, in year 2 they went 11-1 and won the Rose Bowl!

RainMaker 07-18-2008 06:57 PM

I think the ability to upload the videos is awesome. Really cool feature that should make dynasty reports and online league much more enjoyable.

From looking at the videos, the defender pursuit looks absolutely atrocious. They seem to not have any clue on angles. Is this the case on all levels? Is this the reason that returns are so easy? I mean the game looks cool and all but I'm wondering how long it would take for me to be able to figure out how to abuse the AI when it comes to the angles they take.

I just picked up the PS3 version.

Fellow PS3 owners, should we start our own thread?

I would like to hear what some PS3 owners think.

kcchief19 07-18-2008 07:38 PM

OK, I've now lost connection in the first three games I have played. Is this just because wireless networking sucks or is this normal? I have a wireless-N router but I opted to go for the xbox adapter rather than get the Linksys adapter. Was that a mistake?

Yes, wireless networking sucks for games, mostly because it's more susceptible to packet drop than a wired connection. A clear signal with no interference might keep this from being an issue, though, so may or may not be your particular problem. Can also be your ISP, your route to whoever you tried to play, or any of a number of other issues.

Also make sure you don't have any Torrents running or other stuff in the background that is sucking up your bandwidth.

is there a way to DL the rosters other than getting that game shark-ish thing and putting them on a memory card?

This is assuming you have the 360 version.

Go to download rosters when you're signed onto XBL in-game. Do a search for gamertag "Pasta Padre"...he has put out fully named rosters for all teams. Badda bing badda boom.

Logan 07-18-2008 08:41 PM

Opened up a FOFC room.

Logan 07-18-2008 08:49 PM

In case anyone else comes in, I'm waiting a few mins for Sak to finish up a game.

Logan 07-18-2008 08:55 PM

No headset sak? I'd love to hear what you thought about that 64 yd TD.

Cringer 07-18-2008 09:40 PM

So I had planned to start a career and looking around the game I stumble upon Campus Legend, which I remember hearing about in previous versions but had never experienced. I figured I would give it a shot, and I am really enjoying it so far.

I had a headset.

I told you I sucked. Thanks for taking it easy on me. I couldnt figure out the damn speed burst button.

Logan 07-18-2008 09:46 PM

Haha...you played hard at the end, making the 21-11 game look much, much closer than it actually was. A tip for you...don't blitz your LBs so much...that's what was leaving the middle of the field open for me (although you may have learned as I think you stopped doing it as much later on). Teel was something like 19 for 21.

I couldn't stop that TE of yours.

Dr. Sak 07-18-2008 09:47 PM

The TE fumbled when I tried to stretch instead of speed burst. I had a good drive going there. I started zone blitzing near the end.

Logan 07-18-2008 09:49 PM

Yeah I don't what the hell you were doing there.

Logan 07-18-2008 10:00 PM

Some highlights from mine and Sak's game...

Kordell Young taking the screen to the house...

Jabu Lovelace comes in for the briefly injured Teel, so we run an option with Mason Robinson...

Courtney Greene playing center field and destroying Derrick Williams...

Raiders Army 07-18-2008 10:18 PM

Just had a great game with EF. He won in 3OT 34-31.

Not sure if you heard me, but when I threw the ball for intentional grounding that was a mistake. I hit the RB button instead of the LB button. Was that what happened to you?

Your QB ran it really well. It was hard to defend that even with a CB blitz. Those WR screens worked pretty well. In previous editions of the game they didn't work so well.

All in all, a really great game.

Eaglesfan27 07-18-2008 10:21 PM

That was a great game - my most exciting game yet. Quite the momentum change as well as we were in a defensive battle that ended 14-14 in regulation.

Yes, I hit the wrong shoulder button and that is why I had those intentional grounding calls. I'm still getting used to them switching up the shoulder buttons.

Locker is awesome. His 87 speed will be a huge weapon in most games.

Your screens were really frustrating me (particularly the one I could have blown up but just mishit a button in the 2nd or 3rd OT.)

Looking forward to checking out the Heisman sliders now and seeing how they play. By the way did you have any sliders in that game? Seemed like the QB's were lacking some zip on their throws..

Raiders Army 07-18-2008 10:28 PM

No sliders. They were the default settings on Heisman. I'm not sure if the QBs lacked zip since that was my 4th complete game and it's been a while since I played NCAA 08. For the most part, I thought it was pretty difficult to run. Maybe we should change the offensive line sliders for run blocking as well.

Eaglesfan27 07-18-2008 10:39 PM

I'm only through a quarter, but I think DeToxRox is right. Heisman maybe the way to go. These sliders are awesome so far. For my talent level, Heisman has always been too hard/frustrating, but this is very playable. I'm actually getting pressure on the QB (which has resulted in 2 picks, I think he has INT's too high at 35) and I've been having to face pressure as I throw. Only up 3-0 over Cal using USC at the end of the 1st quarter.

Galaxy 07-18-2008 10:54 PM

Not sure what happen with Ironhead and I. We were having a pretty good game going into the half. The A&M offense is pretty challenging.

It just randomly dropped on my end - after one of the plays it just popped up a message saying we had been disconnected. Was a good game - just couldn't quite stop the Bulldog offense from inching out those first downs. But I did manage to hurt one of your running backs. :D

I was trying to decide on to go for it or not on that 4th and inches on the 1 and a half goal line. I figure, if I miss, you would be inside your own one yard line. My running back returned however (or was going, I got the "Will return soon" line). Would you like to try it again?

Mississippi State doesn't have the overall talent, speed, and depth to compete with the better programs. Hopefully I can improve that in the dynasty league.
