He is trying to pidgeon-hole it into certain laws do require certain types of motives. But there are way more laws that ignore motives than require very specific motives. Even murder doesn't require motive, just premeditation.
They tried to overthrow the democratic process. They may have been trying to do it because they thought it was a faulty election, but it was still their purpose. There is no legal means to stop what you think is a faulty election by overrunning the Capital and stopping an election from being certified. So what they were doing was illegal whatever their cult-like brains found as justification. |
All this reminds me of the whole "The Civil War wasn't about slavery, it was about States rights" arguments that I promise you I have heard my whole life. The simple answer to that is "States rights to what?" They were fighting for the right of slavery, the rest is trying to morally justify it.

Curious how many violent criminals facing over a decade in prison get pre-sentencing release.
|
He was having chemo, and was released for medical treatment. Depending on exact charges, medical release for major medical conditions are probably pretty common depending the severity of the crime and the background of the criminal.

Saw an English bookmaker put the booking weight over/under for Trump at 273.5. What's your bet?
|
Quote:
so what's that mean? how likely it is whether he goes to jail? and which way does it go |
Quote:
He was released pre-trial which seems fair. But after he was found guilty of a crime that could land him in jail for over a decade, it seems kind of silly to release him. Anyway, guess he didn't want out for chemo after all. |

He's def 300+. Right in that 305-315 range I'd wager.
The only reason he might be less is just less muscle mass of a 70+ year old man. |

an offshore sports book put the line at 273.5
|
Quote:
FWIW, it looks like from the announced weights of the others being booked, they are just asking people for their weight. I don't think that they are making them step on a scale or anything. So if this is still getting action at 273.5, you should take the under. |
I would have loved to see the reaction when he told them 215.

Can we use this for the british version as well ?
Here is Boris Johnsons sister owning the libs by breaking her finger and railing (hihi) against the terror of the signs asking users of the tube to bring water and (the horror!) help folks not feeling well in the heat. Might as well do the faux-intellectual canadian version: |
She won't hold handrails as a form of protest against woke?

Only Liberal Cucks use handrails.

It would apear so. And not bring water on the tube. (She might conceivably bring a half filled bottle of Wine if she manages not to break it falling down stairs) |
Pope Francis Says 'Reactionary' U.S. Catholic Church has Replaced Faith with 'Ideology' | National Review
The Pope out there slinging barbs at American Catholics. As a nominal Catholic who goes to church every Sunday, he's not wrong. I've told my wife I would be shocked if there isn't a schism or a sizable portion of American Catholic priests break away and declare Francis not the true Pope before he dies. We have 2 Priests at our church, probably a few thousand people come over the various masses each week.the Priests alternate masses so we get one or the other every other week. The secondary priest keeps his homilies to maybe 5 minutes, but the main priest goes 10-15... and I can't remember the last time he didn't mention "woke" or "social justice" or some other right wing buzzword. Good news is he seems to dislike Trump but never straight says so because he'd probably lose half the church. Most of my wife's family pretty much equates Trump's ideology with what true Catholics should believe or say. |

Only 17 years. Well below federal guidelines and the Judge also said Biggs doesn't have to pay restitution because he doesn't have the money. Can't say I've seen that before. Especially for someone who raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for their defense.
Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs sentenced to 17 years in January 6 case | CNN Politics |
Rehl gets 15 years. His sentencing guidelines were 30 years to life.
LOL |
Yeah don't understand the Rehl sentence, this was after adding a perjury enhancement for lying during the trial. I hope Garland challenges these sentences like he did the Oath Keepers.
|
I don't get it. The judge was calling out his own sentence for being abnormally low? What am I missing?
|
Quote:
They are all sorry after the fact. Wonder what their thoughts would be if they had succeeded? They should all be hung. |
I don't know what the appropriate sentencing is but it is interesting who gets the breaks in this country when it comes to sentencing.
|
If the Oath Keepers were black and/or muslim, they'd all be in Guantanamo right now. Well, the ones who survived the trip, that is.
