I don't mind it normally except for games I watch. And it used to not be an issue until latency got so bad.

It's not too much more if you get internet with Xfinity. And I need it for sports. Xfinity also added data caps in the area since they're a monopoly here which I'm guessing was put in place to prevent cord cutting. It's like $50 more a month to get unlimited data. |

We dropped cable and went with internet along with paying the extra for not data caps because we are heavy internet users. We're paying about the same for just internet since we're not bundling. The only upside is I don't have to call them every year to complain about my bundle deal expiring and get them to give me whatever the current deal is. |
That NLCS Gm 6, WNBA Gm 5 and Sunday Night Football multiview on YouTube TV?
Yes they put that on there just for me. Who woulda thunk it a few years ago eh? |
I've got Paramount+ through WalMart+. I'm trying to watch UEFA today. Both my TV app and web browser won't let me stream the games because Paramount+ has detected a VPN. I don't use a VPN - or at least have no idea if something mimicking a VPN is set up on my system. Chat support won't help - basically reiterated the error message and disconnected the chat (THANKS!).
Can anyone explain this to me like I'm 6 years old? What should I be looking for, where, and what do I need to disable to get this to work? |

From the Paramount support page (easiest way I saw to provide a first suggestion for fixing whatever is wonky) Quote:

Yeah, I've already seen that. Means nothing to me. This isn't a device-specific issue since it's happening on 3 different devices in the house. I don't see anything that shows a network setting I can set to "automatic" (or I don't know where to look outside of everything under Network & Internet). I don't see anything on the app controlling my internet that mentions VPNs or proxies. And while I'd like to watch these games, it isn't worth my time to call Metronet about it and then have it resolve nothing and have Paramount disconnect the chat again when I tell them I've contacted my ISP and it didn't resolve it.
Oh well. Back to Forensic Files. |
YTTV going up $10 a month to $82.99 in January. Still much cheaper than DirecTV but no doubt, with fragmentation of content into so many different streaming subscriptions, the circle will be closing way sooner than we all hope.
|
Hah, I just came here to post the same. I've been using the service for six years now and I just cancelled. I should be good for the CFP and then I'll figure out what's next.

I'm feeling the same way. I've never used Sling before, but it looks like I can get everything I want for $50 a month there, and slim it down to 25-30 a month when it's not football season. |
I would consider Fubo but the lack of Warner, Discovery and Turner channels is a no-go. It's weird they call themselves the sports streaming choice but you can't watch March Madness or a bunch of regular and postseason baseball and hockey on their service.
At the time we switched, that was the only other service I considered. We got YTTV and added Philo to fill the gap of missing History channel and some other minor channels. |
$10 to $83 a month? That's... quite a jump.
|
New episodes of Jeopardy are on Hulu and Disney+ now -- it looks like they drop 5 am the next morning, which is fine with me. I'm not sure if they stay on for a good length of time or what (we don't watch with regularity so that's pretty important to me personally), but if so, this could be the thing that finally gets me off YTTV and into Sling or Fubo or something for sports.
|
I don't think going from YTTV to Fubo is going to save you much and Fubo is an inferior product other than maybe a slightly better picture and more surround audio.
|
Is Fubo still missing all of the Turner networks? That was the case when we finally switched to YTTV from cable a couple years ago. Imagine calling yourself the cord-cutting option for sports fans and not havingTBS/TNT/Tru for March Madness and various NHL, MLB, and NBA broadcasts (some of which were/are postseason games, as well).
|
You are correct, Ksyrup. They are just hanging onto past laurels when you could get all or close to all sports channels for like 50 bucks, but that was like 8 years ago. Now they are just a cable alternative like YTTV that costs 80 bucks a month.

A company is not going to win me over if:
1. You run a ticket every five minutes telling me that YouTube is going to take my channels away and… 2. You tell viewers to go to a URL which doesn’t work and 3. I suspect that the reason they would “go away” is that you are trying to charge them more, hence charging ME more |
