Between this and the UFO "disclosures", I expect this week to begin with highs and massive letdowns.

There is. It is a conviction by the senate after impeachment. Which they had teed up in front of them after Trump try to have them all killed on January 6. But they decided he was awesome and should be president again, so they did not convict him. |
Dola:
It is actually good, IMO, that normal convictions do not make you ineligible for office. Otherwise, you’d have some random DA in rural Oklahoma having gotten Obama convicted of a felony jaywalking during his first term or something to keep him from being reelected. |
trump has been notified that he is the target of a criminal investigation.
It is close. |
Per Trump, he has been indicted and is to appear in court in Miami on Tuesday. News reports say 7 charges.

My effing parents haven't even been here for 3 hours and the indictment hits. FML as the kids say.

Freaking out on Truth Social.

We really need a new thread, this one is pre-2020 election
Then again, we could resurrect it in 2024, since that's an election year. Of course, there's at least a chance he won't be on the ballot that year. |

If he decides to run, who do we want driving the Ford Bronco? Junior? Eric? Elon Musk?
|
Lol, he has apparently already sent out a fundraising email based on this

Apparently Trump is real shook because his folks told em "Don't worry, you won't be indicted, and if you are, we can tie it up in jurisidictional stuff forever"

Yeah I think they thought they had a good chance of having the whole thing thrown out if the charges were in D.C. and not Florida,
|
Trump has posted a video saying he's innocent, and everything the Democrats did during his presidency and after is a hoax and we must make America Great again.

Re-indicted and it feels so gooooood... |

I'm not. I just see people reposting his rants on Twitter. |

So did you have a nice breakfast? |
Actually, it's gone much better than I expected. Nothing so far, although I'm pretty sure I watched my dad read the breaking news on his phone during dinner in real time. But maybe they were already expecting it, so there was no outburst.
And it probably also helped that I went through an extended Seinfeld episode last night trying to explain streaming services to my parents. At least an hour showing them how all the services work, how you get to them, etc. They don't understand the difference between a TV channel and a stand-alone service (so REELS channel and the REELSNow stand-alone app, for instance). Had no idea how they would find channels without numbers. The culmination of this was that my mom kept complaining that they were old and don't know any of this and how did I learn all of this, and I said, "I am a 52 year old man with a full-time job and I made time to spend time researching how all this works and what packages are best for me. You're retired with nothing to do. Grab a pad of paper, make a list of every show/channel you can't do without, and start looking at services, packages and prices!" It ended with me talking about YTTV, then Hulu, then some other service, and after each one, my dad vetoed it... due to who owned it. Seriously. I think they are going to downgrade from DirecTV satellite to a smaller DTV Stream package. Probably the best option since there's some familiarity there. It was fun. But also maybe a distraction from Trump. That's how my night went. I missed all of the "good" parts of the FSU/OU game and only watched them lose. |

So they play the "old and feeble-minded" card, but can't believe they'd be duped by lying politicians and media companies. Got it! |
My aunt wanted to get my parents Netflix a while back. I tried to explain the concept of streaming and it didn’t go well. Eventually I just told her to get them Apple TV and I’ll set it up. Dead serious she tells me they already have a tv.

I think I read that he recorded the video before the indictment came. Just to be ready for it. |

Would they be able to work the Apple TV remote? |
I got my folks a TCL Roku TV and loaded up Netflix, Disney+ and Britbox and also wrote down instructions about how to get to Live TV (e.g. their basic cable), and then stripped all the other channels off of the Roku homepage. It's worked really well.

Good Lord. That tape of him showing off the Iran documents is worst than first given.

FFS. Game over. Aileen Cannon has been assigned as the judge. This will be worse than the Rittenhouse judge.

According to what I've read, from a used to be prosecutor in this Circuit said its very likely she will be asked to recuse herself if not at the arraingment, for the trial herself. The 11th Circuit has already chastised her once for what she did in the earlier stunt for Trump, and would not hesitate to do so again I'm sure: https://twitter.com/JoyceWhiteVance/...66126881619969 |

They can ask her but can they force her? Genuinely asking. And if she is forced to recuse holy shit the conspiracy theories. |
They may feel the case is so strong that they want her to be the judge to put to rest any "RIGGED!" arguments. If she oversteps her bounds, the 11th circuit has shown it will take her to task, so she may be limited in how much help she could be. This might be the preferable set of circumstances to take him down, if the case is really as strong as it appears.
|
I don't feel all that worried about the judge. It sounds like the prosecutor is legitimately apolitical and exceptionally thorough with his cases. It sounds as if he was very selective and focused on what charges could be clearly proven. I guess my thought is that it sounds like the case that was built will not be overly complex and pretty concise.
|
I am completely skeptical of there being any accountability. Only takes 1 MAGA idiot on the jury let alone a patrician judge.
|
Only the best people
|
I wonder if Trump paid them at all.
|
One thing a pro-Trump presiding judge can do is slow-walk the case, grant every requested continuance, take a long time deciding motions, etc. So it might not affect the verdict, but if the defense plan is to delay, delay, delay, then she can help them along.
|
Just heard a second person is being indicted
|
Quote:
They can appeal and go over her head to the Circuit if she tries to take control of things again, and as Joyce White said the reputation of the whole Circuit would be in question if she does not recuse herself. |
wow well given what Trusty was saying on CNN last night about the case probably good for Trump. Who knows maybe Michael Cohen will come back and work for him now. :)

Obstruction conspiracy for the guy who moved the boxes after the subpoena. It is fucking amazing how people still get involved with him.

They have said the Mark Meadows is going to be charged with lesser crimes-maybe here? Maybe the guy who helped moved the boxes if he didn't flip-a lawyer who lied? |
