This is a crap timeline, made even crappier by a lot of the people in it.

Yep. If people acted in concert for the greater good, we’d be in a much better place.

I'm fairly certain no one has come close to losing while winning all the states Biden won.

GrantDawg 12-11-2020 05:43 AM

Georgia speaker is moving to amend the state constitution to make the Secretary of State a position appointed by the legislature. Republicans fear nothing more than democracy.

Ksyrup 12-11-2020 07:22 AM

The other part of the "what happens next" question!

JPhillips 12-11-2020 01:06 PM

Now up to 126 GOP Reps that support the Texas lawsuit.

larrymcg421 12-11-2020 01:44 PM

2022 primaries are sure going to be interesting.

I wish they'd hold off leaking stuff like this until he is out of office. Don't make him feel cornered. Hell, leak a complete lie that "prosecutors doubt they will bring charges."

I prefer Nude Nevada and Nude California.

JPhillips 12-11-2020 03:07 PM

Having been to nude beaches, the people you want to be nude rarely are and the people you'd like to stay clothed generally don't.

This.

I wish the Dems had the stones to press this.

I may have to move to one of those if this stupid stab in the dark succeeds. :)

Lathum 12-11-2020 04:37 PM

For those more in the know, is there a point when this gets concerning?

JPhillips 12-11-2020 04:49 PM

I think we're well past the point of this being concerning. We have a majority of the GOP declaring that SCOTUS should overturn the election because they don't like the outcome and feel the GOP-appointed justices owe them. AT this point it's hard to know whether this is an ending or the beginning of a more anti-democratic future.

Lathum 12-11-2020 05:06 PM

yeah. Long term I agree it is already concerning. I guess I should have been more specific. In the short term are there any actual worries they could overturn the election, or delay the electoral college?

I realize the concept of an armed civil war is so alien, but is we were watching this happen in another country we would think there is no way their democracy would survive.

JPhillips 12-11-2020 05:10 PM

There's a lot of dry tinder on the ground and I worry a lot about what happens if there's a spark. A shooter taking out an elector next week could push things into a violent phase pretty quickly.

Alito and Thomas said the Court was required to hear the case, but that they would not grant any injunction, so it sounds like 7-2 on whether to bother hearing the case, 9-0 if they had heard the case.

I believe those two about as much as they actually believe in God and that they aren't Him.

kingfc22 12-11-2020 06:05 PM

So much losing. Hahaha

Ben E Lou 12-11-2020 06:22 PM

Parler is in full meltdown mode.

Ben E Lou 12-11-2020 06:28 PM

To all you limp wristed #SCOTUS FUCK YOU!! I HOPE THE GIFTS YOU RECIEVED FROM THE LEFT ARE MAKING YOU HAPPY!! I AM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW!!

#scotus rules FOR an illegal national election - may their souls burn in hell

Pray for America. We’re fucked. Lady Liberty sure is disappointed tonight. 🥺😤 #stopthesteal #godblesstexas #texaslawsuit #supremecourt #scotus

I'm so pissed that our constitution is no better than the paper we wipe out ass with it's useless if even #SCOTUS won't abide by it

Fire every single #scotus !!! Every single one !!!!

So I guess we are back to talking about secession now, am I right? #SCOTUS #stopthesteal #Trump2020Landslide

SCOTUS just gave Georgia permission to cheat in the January Senate election. SCOTUS just legalized voter fraud.

#SCOTUS are cowards. Of course you know...this means war.

Ben E Lou 12-11-2020 06:30 PM

Lathum 12-11-2020 06:33 PM

I mean, what part of the constitution did they violate?

JPhillips 12-11-2020 06:42 PM

TX GOP basically calling for secession.

Quote:

“Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution.”

ISiddiqui 12-11-2020 06:44 PM

They can call it... a... Confederacy of states?

If it makes you feel any better, in 70 years time your equivalent of Berlin will be the coolest city in the world. Honestly, wow, what a place!

Parlertakes on twitter gives me enough highlights without needing to soil my equipment.

Parlertakes is the best

Which is more popular next step on Parler right now, “succession” or “Marshall” law?

RainMaker 12-11-2020 07:22 PM

Lot of violent internet fantasies on those sites. Guessong this will lead to some more right wing terrorist attacks.

Thomkal 12-11-2020 07:55 PM

Is Twitter done for everyone?

Good to know our system of checks and balances still work ... albeit with holes to be patched.

albionmoonlight 12-11-2020 08:51 PM

Well, he got a vaccine approved before the election. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s enough to sway enough electors when they meet on Monday.

State of the universe right now:

Edward64 12-12-2020 05:59 AM

Good thing California's Calexit plan/attempt at secession has failed (so far). Otherwise TX would have a template to go by.

In case anyone was wondering if being smacked down by the highest court in the land would quiet him as he realizes it is over...

No.

I am sure he will create his own super. amazing, even higher, best court ever full of judges with courage and patriotism and finally get his vindication. Chief Justice Lindsey Graham anyone?

Ben E Lou 12-12-2020 08:12 AM

So, back to the original poll...how DOES this end? Continued tantrums, maybe another stupid legal maneuver or twenty, and a competing rally on 1/20?

Surely he won't have to be physically removed, if for no other reason than how weak that would make him look.

albionmoonlight 12-12-2020 08:17 AM

A lot of GOP Politicians said back in November that they would accept Biden as President-Elect "When the Electoral College voted" or "After the Supreme Court ruled on any cases."

I am sure that seemed so far away when they said it. Surely, the problem will have resolved itself by then.

Sort of like getting a two-week extension on a term paper. "I'll have lots of time to write the paper now!"

Well, the paper's due on Monday, guys. How's that going for you?

Edward64 12-12-2020 08:17 AM

Looks like #3 to me. But the "give up" should be "give up but with continued bitching".
