I thought it was hilarious that she conceded and then CNN said "we're not ready to call that race yet," like their info might be wrong or someone might talk her into changing her mind.

Nate Cohn says he thinks Biden will win PA by 2 when it's all counted (and said it's a conservative number)

PredictIt has Biden winning GA at 71%

Ksyrup 11-04-2020 06:19 PM

NV was going to provide updated numbers tonight but reverted back to no new news until tomorrow.

Guiliani is pushing the Trump campaign to file a national lawsuit against democrats and our election system.

Press conference from the guy in Fulton County who looked haggard. Someone needs to buy him a steak and milkshake when this is all over.

I picked up on that also and found it amusing.

Dems just moved to the favorites in Georgia on the offshore markets as well.

ISiddiqui 11-04-2020 06:35 PM

PA is at 245k lead now with 86% reported.

Trump filing lawsuits everywhere. Now Georgia.

Atocep 11-04-2020 06:36 PM

I'm seeing a lot of Republicans coming to terms with the fact trump lost. They think Dems stole the election, but the seem to be coming around on defeat.

As it turns out the pollsters werent that terrible...

They missed on Florida but it appears the Cuban voters in Dane County threw that a bit out of whack.

North Carolina has been basically silent for awhile. I wonder if they dont have a bit of Georgia going on. Late mail in votes yet to be tallied in.

North Carolina is done counting but ballots can keep coming in for a few days. 117k outstanding IIRC so a comeback for Biden is highly unlikely there.

So a few Republican talking heads on TV said the biggest losers in this election are the far left progressives in D party. I guess I can see that. Ds lost seats in the House, and a seat or two short of the majority in the Senate. So that means now PR or DC statehood, packing courts or likely even getting a a younger replacement for Breyer too. I am hoping Biden can at least use Exec orders to rebuild the Federal gov. With the SC strongly 6-3 Roe v Wade is dead as is ACA and maybe LGBTQ+ protections.

Thomkal 11-04-2020 07:10 PM

NBC now projecting Gary Peters wins the Senate seat in MI

I'm trying to decide whether to keep paying attention to this shit tonight.

So of the four truly relevant states-

Nevada - nothing getting reported tonight
Arizona - dropping some results at 9 PM ET and that's it.
Georgia - trickling in until they stop for the night, then trickling in against in the morning.
Pennsylvania - no idea.

Guess I'll wait look for the Arizona results and then do something more productive.

Ksyrup 11-04-2020 07:16 PM

PA seems to be very slowly trickling in, but yeah. Nothing definite until tomorrow I would say.

And Philadelphia still at 70%. The 30% left in Philly is probably going to be about a 200k swing for Biden by itself, maybe more.

miami_fan 11-04-2020 07:45 PM

Are the races further down the ballot being affected by the presidential race is tightening?

ISiddiqui 11-04-2020 07:53 PM

It seems more likely Perdue gets under 50% forcing a runoff. Haven't seen anything concrete though.

The Ossoff/Purdue GA Senate seat is almost into runoff territory making both GA seats up for grabs in January.

Looks to be like the overall picture is that there is enough of a margin ... just enough ... to avoid any credible long-term court challenge.

This is the first time I've ever been physically ill the day after an election, '16 included. I may gain more perspective in time, but coupled with other events in recent years I conclude that most of what was once worthy in America from an institutional standpoint is dead. It's much different for me psychologically to consider it dead instead of dying, which has been my POV for decades.

My life personally will be fine, but I think the world needs more from this nation than we will ever be able or even interested in giving in the future.

Yes I agree we the “City on the hill” is dead or rapidly dying. Roman Empire circa 400 AD.

bhlloy 11-04-2020 08:27 PM

Well said Brian. I agreed with what you said on election night and I still agree with it now. It's very hard to get over the fact that 48% of the country in a record turnout voted for another 4 years of division, hate and America continuing to become a negative influence on the world stage.

I guess a lot of smarter people than me think this is over, but I'm still nervous as hell. I'm not sure how the AZ numbers hold up unless there was something unusual about those ballots, and seems pretty certain that Trump might be able to force a recount there at which points courts get involved. GA is a toss up and PA is a court ruling away from being an absolute shitshow.

Death of an empire.

A lot of places realized it in 2016 but we lived here so it was easy to show it as a one-off in our minds.

Early November is finally here. I have seen a lot of hate spewed in recent days about a man who is a constant winner and overachiever, and that's what the people who support him like about him. Yes, he's been caught in some lies and maybe twisted the truth a little but he's still out there proving his haters wrong time after time. Some people are just jealous of someone who is successful and has money. Throw in a hot foreign underwear model at his side and they hate him even more. You may not have wanted him in his role, but he's there now and there's nothing you can do about it. I know it’s possibly just going to get worse over the next several days, but like him or not, Tom Brady is turning things around in Tampa.

Here's a view from Trumpistan. Small bit of background: they had a donation page set up a few months ago to help with medical bills:

"So completely mind blowing that half of Americans are choosing Socialism. Half are choosing a candidate that has done nothing for them. Unbelievable & sickening what Americans really want."

We're not the dying Roman Empire. If you want a Roman comparison, we're much closer to the death throes of the Republic Era than the Empire Era.

I'm of a couple of minds on this. Like most of those nitwits are cowards who are just going to go about their lives and complain about what could have been. We'll hear about how Trump was the perfect President but they cooked up a fake pandemic and illegals and Hunter Biden's laptop or something and they could barely beat their Champion even with all their late vote cheating. And we'll still be hearing about the Golden Age of Trump where the country was prosperous, even "the Blacks" were in good shape because he loved them and they loved him, we had China on the ropes, immigration was fixed, government was getting cleaned up, and he was a no-nonsense businessman who ran the government efficiently. It'll be like Al Bundy talking about that one time he scored four touchdowns in a single game. But anyone who hears it and lived it will wonder what reality these chuckleheads were living in because we'll all be pretty sure we remembered the recession, the racial tension, China being indifferent, kids in cages, his looting of the treasury for his personal gain and impeachment, and the completely failed pandemic response due to his ineptitude.

But there are probably also going to be a handful of crazies that this just breaks them. Maybe I'm underestimating the number of them. But I expect a number of Pizzagate-esque crazy stuff in the next month or two. Mr. Drain-the-swamp, our only hope, was foiled so now we need to go all WalMart Paul Revere and save the Republic or REVOLUTION! I'd make sure the Secret Service detail for Biden is extra good (though I think he's a little protected because they'd fear big, bad socialist Kamala... though she's just not). Was 2020 our 1968 or just a prelude to it?

I don't think Trump is going to win Arizona. If he does, in the irony of all ironies, Fox News will be excoriated for their early call for Biden last night.

Ksyrup 11-04-2020 08:43 PM

It's so close that it's hard to justify the call even if it ends up right.
